I ask it here because I was wondering what moly coated bullets do at ELR.
Has anyone used them?
Any prognosis on what it does for barrel life?

Re: Moly coated bullets??

It's a gimmick in my opinion. Builds up in your barrel, melts in heat..some fps gain though. I've heard better things about boron nitride, but I personally think both are a waste of time

An eternal argument...

It does something. Some folks see benefit, some see annoying side effects.

I think that in the end, nothing trumps good load development and marksmanship.

I was fooling with it in the mid-late 90s'.
It was a lot of work/mess for what I felt was
very little return. I was coating my own, you could not buy them coated. After about 2 years worth of hassle I went back to uncoated bullets and haven't looked back, till now.
Wouldn't do it again. I still have 2 tumbles full of moly and bbs sitting on my bench collecting dust, may they rest in peace.
