Hunting & Fishing More rabbits

Me and a buddie had some time to go chase some rabbits this morning, not alot was out because of last nights storm. But we found a good lookout over a small valley, and popped em as they came out. Me with my SRS in .260, and he with a Remmy 700 in .204. The impacts were beautiful, the sunny side up one got filleted by my .260.

Stick to head shots. Thats what I do with my .17 HMR saves the meat on them.

This is a bot fly larvae . One of many reasons we don't eat jackrabbits .

Damn, that looks nasty.

Being a southern boy and growing up eating rabbits when there is an "R" in the month, had me wondering about the jack rabbits when I was stationed in Long Beach, Ca. some friends and I would hit the high scrub near Hemet/Meniffee for some blasting.

I thought we killed a shit ton of them. Until I drove to Idaho to meet my ex's family in Rupert. Holy shit, the numbers we drove over coming up the Great Basin highway, especially near Ely/Elko?. At times, we'd hit sections of road built up with the dead jackrabbits. It sounded like we were running on an old dirt road!

Ya, I dont care to eat jackrabbits, for many reasons. I shoot them, and enjoy it.

Got a few more, this time I was shooting the old Covert .308 barrel, a deadly combo with 168 Amax's.
