Gunsmithing Mossberg 500/590

Re: Mossberg 500/590

They should fit fine, Mossberg's web site shows the stock as fitting all pump action versions (500, 590,835 and the maverick). The biggest differences with the 590 from the 500 is that the 590's use heavier (thicker) barrels, a metal safety and a metal trigger guard instead of the plastic ones on the 500's. Generally speaking the 590's also offer shorter barrels and I believe (but not positive) they do not have interchangeable chokes only a cylinder bore.

590A1 has the metal safety/triggergaurd, steel receiver and thicker barrel (parkerized) - it's a beefed-up version of the 590. Barrels for 590A1 are 18.5 or 20" long, all with (fixed) cylinder bore choke (also Class III 14" version).

I spent some time on the Mossberg website checking these out last week....

Cheers,

Bill
