Recently built a precision AR with 20in barrels and looking for a good optic mount for it. Scope will probably have a 34mm tube and 56mm objective.

I’m assuming I’ll need a good cantilever type one piece mount so what’s good out there now? Height recommendation?

How much are you looking to spend? PLENTY of options these days. As for height, I think you should be good at 1.4 or 1.5. I wouldn't go much higher unless you have to for some reason.
I know good mounts will usually cost me $250-$350 on average. My Spuhr mount on my bolt action was quite a bit more too. I know the importance of quality and am willing to pay for it.

Anything from leupold to nightforce, geissele, badger had a sale going 150$ per mount not too long ago.

Yeah, if youre going to go the precision route, you might be wanting to hang all sorts of doodads off of the mount. Reptilia, badger and geissele can accommodate that. Warne skyline products do the same thing at a lesser cost, but with less elegance. of course, theres spuhr that you already know about.

ive recently just got a set of rings from american rifle company. They are impressive. Their one piece mounts look nice and arent the most expensive, but im not sure about accessorries. Maybe wanna check them out.

I do like the ARC rings. Was looking at thier 1 piece too but no cantilever ones. I’m thinking I’ll need one for the AR platform.

I'm in a similar boat, here are the more "premium" scopes in absolutely no order....I left Leupold off purposely.

Scalarworks
Badger
Reptilia
Tier One
Gray Ops
Primary Arms PLX
Bobro
Nightforce
Geissle
Sphur
American Rifle Co. (not cantilever)
Seekins (not cantilever)
American Defense Manufacturing
Area 419
LaRue
Midwest Industries

Who am I missing?

Hey buddy!
Building a precision AR sounds awesome! For your setup with a 34mm tube and 56mm objective scope, a good cantilever one-piece mount is key for stability and accuracy. The Geissele Super Precision mount is highly recommended for its quality and durability. It provides a solid platform for your optic. In terms of height, for a 56mm objective, a mount with a height around 1.5 inches should work well to ensure proper clearance and a comfortable shooting position.
This setup should give you a nice balance of performance and usability for your precision AR build.
Good luck with your project!

Using a 56mm objective, I’d recommend a 1.54” ish mount. This allows the objective to clear your rail.
How much cantilever you need is mostly dependent on scope eye relief and turret configuration, which affects ring separation.

Most of the brands above are solid choices.

I have more Spuhr and Scalarworks than others. I use Spuhrs because they are solid, reliable, I can attach Send It levels easily. They are not light or cheap. I use Scalarworks because they are light, tool less and the company has great CS.

I’m currently looking at Seekins and Area 419.

Hope it helps some.

If you’re going to put an RMR HD on top of the mount the Geissele mount is compatible with the Reptilia ROF-90
