As if there weren't enough threads on the SS scope...

I'm patiently waiting the arrival of my SS 5x20. I have a Remington 700P to mount it on.

I would like to get the hardware to mount it while I'm waiting for it to ship, so I can plug and play once it gets here.

That said, for those who have a similar set up, or with greater know how than myself, what hardware should I buy?

I was thinking of going with Seekins hardware, a 20 moa base and unknown size rings (I can't measure what I don't have). Badger and TPS have been suggested as being a better alternative. If I go that route, again, what size rings?

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Drew

Re: Mounting a SS HD 5x20

Not sure that Badger or TPS would be a better alternative to seekins. Im sure someone with chime in on what ring heights will work. Or send heatseekins on here a message and ask his recomendation.

Re: Mounting a SS HD 5x20

Seekins 20 MOA base, and Seekins 30mm medium 0.87" rings, will always work fine with a 50mm objective. Sometimes the Seekins 30mm Lows 0.82" will work w/ a 50mm objective, but it depends on your barrel contour.

Re: Mounting a SS HD 5x20

I just mounted mine up in Seekins hardware. 20moa base and low rings on a M700 SA with varmint contour (same as 700P). Have @ 3/16" betwixt bell and barrel.
This is the perfect height for me using an MCS-T stock. YMMV.

Re: Mounting a SS HD 5x20

I'm mounting mine on seekins 20moa base and seeking medium rings. It was suggested by both Seekins and SWFA for my 700 SPS Tactical.

Re: Mounting a SS HD 5x20

I mounted mine using seekins highs on a warne 20moa base. I have a very small taper barrel (kreiger heavy varmint) so I needed the extra height. The mediums should do just fine on your setup, if not the lows.

Re: Mounting a SS HD 5x20

I'm using a seekins 20MOA base and low rings with my 5-20. It's sitting on my 700 VS SF-II squirrel gun which has a heavy barrel contour (.820" at muzzle.) It sits quite close, I had to shave the bottom of the flip cap for barrel clearance. I might have to swap for medium rings once the sunshades are available (20moa cant and making the scope effectively longer with the sunshade is going to reduce the already tight clearance.)

If you choose to go with Seekins medium rings are probably the safe choice since the 700P has a heavy contour barrel.
