I've read through the stickies and I'm afraid I'm still a little confused. I have a CZ 455 Varmint in a boyds tacticool stock, and I bought a Mueller APT 4.5x14x40 for my scope. And ideally I'd like to use Burris Zee rings.

Using [rail height + ring height] - [bell diameter x 0.5] to figure out my ring height needed. Just need a second opinion that I'm using the right numbers.

DIP rail lists aprox adding .220 inches (5mm) . According to their sizing chart burris measures from the bottom of the ring to the bottom of the scope tube, I read that to get the centerline number from there you add 15mm to the listed ring height. Is that correct? Assuming it is right, burris 30mm signature zee rings list med .180 (19.57), and high lists .300. With the med rings it looks something like

[5mm + 19.57mm) - (40*0.5) = 4.57mm

Does that seem right? Or have I totally confused myself. If that is correct would the med rings leave enough room to also include butler creek flip up caps? Or would I be better off going with Burris Zee high rings?

Thanks
