mounting scope on lr308?

gettin ready to buy a scope and rings for my new LR308.

what height rings will I need for a scope with a 40 or 42 mm objective? gonna go with burris xtreme rings... will I be able to mount the scope straight to the flat top?

with 40-42 you can probably get away with lows but medium would be safe. I got a LaRue.

I'm running a Trijicon Accupoint 5-20 x 50 Mil-Dot and am using the Warne tactical 1 piece on my LR-308.If you put a soft cheek piece or change out the A-2 stock to a Mag Pul you are gonna want high rings. Burris makes a very nice 1 piece mount that's what I would reccomend.

I just mounted a scope on my new LR 308 and had to use highs on a Burris 4x14x42, because the allen screw on magnification ring rubbed the rail w mediums.

I use high rings. You may want a 1piece mount instead depending on your scope's eye relief or dimensions.

Super Sniper 1piece mount would be an idea too, they look just like the burris except less $$$

I know you said you were going to use burris xtreme rings but you might take a look at the burris pepr mount!

high rings(5/8" or 3/4"),not for clearance but for proper sight line.i use the xtreme rings myself even on a 50bmg they work great.

change of plans... going with a mark 4 with 50mm objective... so is it now high rings or xtra high??????

someone has got to have the same set up?? I want dont want to get the high and find out my scope is to low or I cant get a good sight pic? or get the xtra high and not have a good cheek weld

Im running IOR low rings on a Badger riser rail with an IOR (50mm) objective scope mounted so by my estimation Med. rings will suit you fine for a 40-42mm objective and will look a bit sleeker than the high rings.
