Gentlemen,
Recently purchased a Spotter 60 from another member. I wish to use it with my Ashbury Precision TACT3 tripod. Silly me thought this would be a no-brainer. And I'll bet there are a bunch of you saying " no it's not."
The mounting plate that came with the 60 didn't have the little anti-rotation pin. No worries so I bought one from SAP. NOGO because the 60 is tapped for 5/8 and the new SAP plate is considerably smaller.
Now all of that would make no difference because NOGO #2 on my part was assuming the top of the tripod would let me lock in a mounting plate when I finally took care of the 60 situation. I thought the Ashbury piece came off allowing the plate to lock in. It does not. It is permanent. And because it's screw is much smaller that 5/8", the 70 won't mount on it directly either.
I hope I explained this clearly enough for someone to tell me how best to do this. Are there adopters available? Also, I have access to an entire machine shop so modifying things is pretty easy. Thanks for any help you can give. I know it's not a crisis but I've want a 60 forever, I'm home on medical leave for a month and I'm bored as fuck.
