I am researching the most economical way to make an orthogonal moving target at ranges past 400 meters.
I so far have heard of helium filled balloons towed behind a RC vehicle. The downside is that this has a very limited range unless you boost the power of the transmitter. I am considering an I beam or 4 with pulley and motor but there are several downsides to this:
1: The time required to transport, 3 & 1/2 hours one way) set up and take down after each expedition.
2: The research and design needed so that the rail-pulley system works as wanted( goes side to side without stopping).
3: The distance of the target is fixed ( although I can move set ups) and target travel orientation is fixed.
Ideally I was thinking of a RC all terrain vehicle with decent torque to tow a all terrain trolley. That trolley would then have to be wide enough for stability but then need enough ground clearance so that it doesn't bottom out.
Is there a better method any of the SH community use to incorporate such target shooting?
