MPA BA Competition vs Lite

ive had both, still have the ba competition chassis. the weight of the lite chassis is impressive, mine had more than enough adjustment on the cheek height, just no thumb wheel to save weight. the fore end is shorter as well but i believe you can add their spigot or a nv bridge/ extension. good chassis, i kept my ba competition chassis as i liked the longer fore end and weight is not an issue for my use. as always phil at mpa is always great to deal with for cs questions.

cheers

The new Lites do indeed come with the RAT system aka dovetail arca cut

Here is a pic of my Vudoo in an MPA lite with the arca cut:

I'm looking at the BA Light for a 7-mag hunting rig, not a lot on the hide about these. The scope will be shared with a flat top rifle which will wear it for 10 months out of the year but my worry is adjustment in the cheek riser, is there enough for a high scope?

I have the ba lite. Buddy has the competition model which I’ve seen and handled a lot. Can’t go wrong with either just depends on what your looking for mainly in weight. The lite is maybe a couple pounds lighter. Differences are lite has shorter forend and doesn’t have the thumb wheel for cheek riser and length. The lack of thumbwheel isn’t really a big deal because I think most people likely snug up the set screw to take the wiggle out anyway. The light only uses the set screws. I think adjust range is the same. I have plenty of adjustment on the light. I just use a gauge block to get them back to the same spot every time. I’ve added the spigot to the front of the shorter forend to get the bipod on out.

That being said, for my use I like the look of the competition model better and weight is not an issue because I mainly just shoot the rifle off of a bipod and rear bag. I’m debating selling or trading my light for a competition model. Although for someone looking for a lighter set up, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the ba lite model. My rifle shoots excellent in it.

I have both chassis and have the new hybrid on order with the weight system.I think it is the perfect crossover between the comp and the lite if you can’t decide.

How much shorter is the Lite, with the spigot? At only 35 bucks that is a fairly inexpensive upgrade to get more mounting distance while preserving the weight savings.

The Hybrid is about the same weight as the Lite and about the same size as the competition.

The only question is how long does it take for MPA to deliver?

I'm on week 14-15 of an 8-12 week wait, I have heard of some people waiting a lot longer.

FWIW I ordered a Competition chassis on Mar 1 and received it last Friday. I received an email notification from the USPS that a package was shipping from MPA to me.

Apparently or so I've been told, they have redesigned the folding mechanism and was waiting for the prototype to get approved and are cranking them out now. I asked Lisa for an ETA, and she still wasn't able to update me. Pretty discouraging. I've dealt with other chassis manufactures and haven't come close to being left so much in the dark. I'd understand a custom rifle build taking upwards of 12 weeks or longer depending on the customization of it. But a chassis is a plug and play item. Milling machines do the work for you. Can run them 24 hours a day. Minimal supervision. Cerakote… Well I do my own cerakote work so I know exactly what it takes to rock that out. Takes some time to blast. I'll stop my ranting and go back to waiting now...…. Damn chassis. Grumble grumble.

Not sure if this will help any of you. I spoke with Al at MPA a few months ago and the wait time to purchase a 6.5 in competition chassis was approximately 4 to 6 months. Al then had me contact Core Solutions. They had everything in stock, and I was able to have them drop a 26" MPA barrel in the competition chassis, Bighorn TL3 SA action, and the diamond trigger tech flat blade, and I had the rifle in a week. Hope this helps.
