What has been your experience with the H&K Rifles, and what kind of accuracy and distance are you getting with them?

I wished to start a thread showcasing various distances and precision of the Heckler & Koch MR762 (US) and MR308 (Europe) or, if possible, those who have access the M110A1 CSASS/SDMR. I have about a year on this platform, and have worked hard testing factory loads. I have an extensive writeup on this platform on HKPro HERE but, I wish to focus specifically other's extensive expertise of precision and long distance shooters here.

For those who respond with their own shot groups, please share the following:
1) Which Rifle? (MR762, MR308, M110A1, G28, G27)
2) What Barrel Profile? (Barrel Length, Heavy or Medium Contour)
3) What round used?

Included are some of my best groupings. Both rifles I run are Heavy Contour 1:11 Twist 16.5" Barrels. DOPE is as identical as they can get with the two. For the tightest groups, they seem to love the Hornady TAP ELD AR 168gr. Running the Federal Berger 185gr Juggernaut has been a laser beam out to distance. I plan on reporting more as I train and compete more with these two.

I rarely post, but I hope I can be more active here as I get out and shoot more. Thanks for indulging me.

Have shot MR762 A1 plenty of times.
Have seen them shot by skilled shooters with incredible precision AND accuracy.
Mostly fed with scenars, 168 or 175.

Sierra 168s from PMC worked also miraculously. 308 bulk ammo is what it is but it certainly is not bad with them and they are very lot dependent.

Here's to hoping others show what they have and what they've accomplished.

I've "heard" from many what they can and cannot do with this rifle, along with how good, or how horrible, it is. I've heard incredibly horrible reviews on the M110A1 CSASS from B4 qualified Army Snipers, as well. While I have my own year of experience behind the trigger, and I consider it quite capable from my own imperical data, it is my hope to see for myself with shotgroups and grouping data/measurements from others.

I have zero experience with Lapua rounds. Sounds like I'll have to try it out and see what I kind of groups I can get. I appreciate your input.

Hornady TAP ELD AR 168gr @2457-2486fps
MR762 LRPIII Heavy Barrel 1:11 16.5"
1200 yards at a 24x24" target at 15.7-16.1mil, repeated hits with effective wind calls.
1000 yards was extremely consistent at a torso sized target at around 14mils.
Range: Cameo Shooting Complex, Palisades CO (5250-5300ft elevation)

One 417 A1 started shooting wild. Mostly 2-3 rounds within moa and then one or two could be 2 moa away.
It turned out its front take down pin had cracked. Apparently the A1 model's pins that are opened by sticking a bullet in (or the key contained in the stock) are not strong enough.

The rifle has a lot of training done (I am guessing a bit of use-abuse) with and 20kish rounds through.

New pin was easily ordered from Germany.

absolute pinnacle. robust. exceptional...PSG's eveloution.
german engineering at its finest.
hope you brought it home in your 911 GTS!

G28 steel upper, german army setup from HK including the optics that are not available from S&B, only via HK.

Unshot, will be back with more data and targets asap. Will be using Lapua 175gr Scenar-L first.

That dog though...🤣

I have fired my bud's MR762 A1 many times. It always shoots well but it shoots best with FGMM. Weight don't seem to matter as it shoots well with 168 SMK, 168 TT, and 175 SMK. I've been on the fence about adding one to my stable. My HK rifles are old models. I still enjoy shooting my SR9T...bought it new for about $900. It loves FGMM 168.

I am very thankful that better scope mounting options and handguards that allow integration of bipods are now available.

Words cannot express how much I'd like to have that exact rifle in my arsenal. I've been dying to compare an MR762 in full PRS setup, to an SR9T/TC. Definitely post up shot data and photos of 5 round and 10 round groupings?

I'm pretty sure I have a photo of your rifle saved from years ago when I was doing homework on the SR9T. That said, my MRs also like FGMM 168/175gr.

I'll post some groups next time I bring it out. It doesn't get shot much

Any idea why the pic rail does not continue to the end of the handguard? Maybe too much flex? What kind of dog?

Mine is a 2015 era factory MR762 with G28 furniture - still same barrel. It's been pretty picky about bullets it seems - didn't like 175SMKs or Berger OTMs, but loves 175 Scenar-L for some reason.

There is a zero shift if you move the bipod to the front at some point. They noticed during testing and decided to restrict that area from mounting a bipod.

Its a bayrischer Gebirgsschweisshund😅
We have her with us for hunting. She can track hit animals to the end of the World. Incredible skills and very gentle and sensible.

First Session today, shot an hour before with my TRG, Bad idea, concentration went downhill at some point. Still happy with the results, need to adjust the stock and get used to the trigger. Pretty sure there is way more to achieve with this setup. Marked 2 shots i completely pulled. Best Group 0,8MOA worst around 1,1MOA if i remember right. Was shot from right to left(tighter groups were right), cant turn the picture somehow...

- Lapua match 175gr fabric ammunition
740m/s without, 745m/s with suppressor.
- G28 steel upper, 16,5"
- 100m
- 5 shots each besides one 2 shot group.
- bottom 3 without supressor, top 3 with
- brass with and without supressor

What ammo was this? Custom load?

What height is your mount?

Currently ran about 100 bullets through my G28. What really does not work properly is shooting with the supressor. Groups are around 2-3 times the size compared to shooting without the supressor.

Roughly 0,75 MOA without. About 2MOA with suppressor. Noticed once it got loose. Guess thats the problem. Will try to tighten it with maximum strength next time and see if that works. Anyone else experienced something like that?

Been a long time. I'm eager to start shooting the MR again and get more shot data in the near future. So far, the best rounds this rifle has liked is the Federal Berger 185gr Juggernaut which shoots like a laser beam, and the Hornady TAP ELD AR 168gr, both for maximum distance. Federal GMM SMK 168/175gr also perform most excellent, but just don't have the same reach as the Berger and Hornady ELD rounds.

The rifle now has a red dot for indexing, and is HUXWRX Suppressor ready. With any luck, by next year I'll be shooting more suppressed, and getting to run this rifle consistently. I'd also like to switch to the Leupold MK5HD 3.5-18x but, the EOTech Vudu has been running flawlessly and is tracking very well, so its hard to justify.

Here's to hoping more shooting data shows up one of these days from others. So few people seem to use this rifle as a SASS and as such, there just isn't enough PRS or competition data on it. And it can't even be compared to the military rifles due to the barrel being non-chrome lined with different ballistic characteristics.

Just my two cents right now and felt like updating the thread.

Red dot indexing. It isn't as cool looking as the G28. But its what I could put together that would also clear the turrets of the EOTech Vudu scopes. And, easy to side mount any accessories i.e. WMLRF etc. Or, simply remove the tri-rail altogether. It's versatile, which is what matters. And it works.

If I ever migrate to a different scope, I'll likely just do the diving board which then sits everything about a 1/2" lower for the EFLX.
