Muzzle brake fit issue

Anyone know where I can find a washer/spacer to fill this gap?
Its an M24 profile, finishes at .91, the brake is a hair bigger. Its timed right pretty much but I have this gap. Gonna get the feeler gauges to see how much exactly, I may end up going with a different brake if I can't remedy this. Bugs me having that gap.

Check to see if your muzzle threads have a relief cut at the shoulder, or that the brake has a bevel/recess at the start of the threads. They make a spacer for those situations that don't. You will also need timing shims. OD of the shims/spacer to match the barrel is important if you're concerned about looks.

Check with Brownells or Sinclair Reloading. You can search for peel washer. Come to think you can order them from Thunder Beast and they have the size you will need.

Why not have someone stick it in a lathe and clean this up right? Time the brake how you want it and blend the back into the shoulder for that clean seamless look.

waste of money in reality versus a few dollars for washers

especially if this is a barrel that's going to get shot a lot which being M24 i would assume it is

You're right that the cost probably doesn't make sense here. But sticking washers behind a brake that was tapered like that would bug me almost as much as the gap it currently has.

Ultimately if the OP is happy with the fix then that's all that matters.

where does it physically stop? assuming you backed away from it physically stopping to get the timing right? if stops on the shoulder close to correct timing you could take some off the back of the brake until it times correctly when torqed down.

I have a bunch of different shims but the aren't the same diameter as the barrel, much smaller.
If I can find some .91" outside diameter shims Ill be in business. May have to go with another self timing brake though.
I want something small, stainless, 2 ports. Its a 223.
I figured Id give this JP a shot because the price was right. It is a bigger brake than I would like really anyways. If I can get it to fit easily I won't care.

Just get a self timing brake and sell that one. Get it .30 so it can be used with others down the road and it will work fine on a .223. I have a .30 brake on my .223.

I have a bunch of different shims, its the outer diameter thats the problem. I would want them to be flush with the outside of the barrel to make it more seamless.
I'm gonna keep looking. Small, slimmer profile, 2 port, stainless, self timing is want I want. I want it on there to protect the threads and crown more than anything. A little recoil reduction is fine but its a m24 barreled 223. recoil isn't an issue.

For what you're describing, maybe even consider a simple thread protector. If it's mostly about protecting threads and not recoil. Way cheaper and you could sell the brake you have.

problem is the edge of the barrel. I dont have a .91" outside diameter thread protector. I have a generic one that is just slightly wider that the threaded section of the barrel. Leaves the shoulder edge of the barrel out in the open and could easily get dinged up. Ive decided I might as well go with a brake.

One extra port won't hurt anything and not add a lot of length. Why limit yourself to a unicorn? Here is a pic of the Jet Blast on a Med Palma contour barrel. It would look more streamlined on the M24. And some recoil reduction is the added benefit. It's only 2.4" long.
