Gunsmithing Muzzle Brake

Yep.. Tank! The problem is NO muzzle device does anything until the bullet leaves the barrel and the recoil has already been felt. They reduce jump but it is impossible for a brake to reduce the recoil impulse. It just makes you think it did. Maybe if you shoulder is soft enough the bullet will exit and the brake will push before the stock bottoms out on bone. Think about it.

Not to hijack OP, but, I need a barrel vise to time a JP Recoil Eliminator, correct?

A bench vise with soft jaws will work just fine. You are talking 20 ft/lbs max torque needed. I wouldn't use the supplied crush washer. I like PA shims.
