Not a monster to some of you guys, but very nice for a public land buck around here. It's a tall 9 pointer taken with my T/C Omega thumbhole that I Duracoated this year with Nikon Buckmasters 4x-12x-50 SF scope and 245gr. Powerbelts. He was about 60yds broadside chasing a doe through the thicket I was in when I shot him. He field dressed at 175 lbs. No agriculture fields in sight, just acorn fed and mountain bred. Of couse the joker ran off the wrong side of the ridge on his death plunge making the drag that much more memorable. For size reference, I'm 6'0" and about 225 lbs.

well I am jealous if that matters...I just shot a smaller deer but than again it still eats well. My wife is making deer burgers with her new grinder as I write this.

Thanks guys. He shouldn't be too strong, he had just started into the rut and the hocks hadn't even started to stink. He had some huge loins on him, hope to taste some one night this week. Got a couple sleeves of biscuits ready to go

Not sure about age, but he didn't look all that old. I'd say no older than 4.5 yrs.

I know the Reddish Knob and Elkhorn area well, too many people out there for me though. This one came from the Lexington area on National Forest, but he's the 5th one to go on the wall from this place for my buddy and I so it appears to be a good area

Yeah, deer season brought out some special ones in that area. I never hunted big game out there, but I haven't found a better place to shoot big squirrels than around Elkhorn. Nice deer
