pretty standard price for a D740. I wouldn't use a NV scope as a day scope. Seems like a waste of the life of the tube.

Never used one, but I've used a Raptor 6x.

I'm sure you could use it during the day with the pinhole in the objective, still it's probably not the best for the life of the tube.

I'm sure a NV expert will chime in with some first hand info.

If the sight is Gen3 Pinnacle and Auto Gated you will be fine if you open it up in the Day Time, the auto gating will prevent the "burning of the tube" as some see it..

Think of leaving an old TV on pause for the weekend and the image being burned in, this wont happen with a Gen 3 Pinnacle unit that has an Auto Gate feature.

Now as to why you would use it as a daytime scope as well, well thats your call.

But id ask the manf if it is auto gated and if yes you will be fine with using it in daylight

I've got a G3 Pin D-740. It's an awesome piece. I'd NEVER use it during the day! It's a $4000 NV scope for crying out loud!

The R&D Precision mount with Larue levers is must for this scope.
