I mentioned last year, that after doing a grendel for my self. It's all together now, but, I still haven't been able to shoot it yet. Moved right after I finished it. But I do promise I'll post groups as soon as I start breaking in the barrel. Here's the specs....

MEGA Billet upper & lower
Sabere Defence 18" barrel with shark brake
Fail Zero bolt carrier
RRA 2 stage NM LPK
DD rifle length railed handguard
MI low profile gas block
Magpul UBR stock
Falcon ergo grip
one piece gas ring (mcfarland)
Spikes tactical heavy buffer, and ejection port cover

while I was at it, I put a White oak armement barrel I had laying around on a rainierarms supermatch reciever,
so my .556 upper for shooting dad's ammo. (he's a fed, so he doesn't pay for .223)

WOA 18" barrel, with vortex flash suppresser,
Viking Tactics mid length handguard
Young MFG gasblock flip front sight,
ARMS #40 rear sight
Mega Billet charging handle
Trijicon tritium front sight.

Re: My 6.5 Grendel, sorry for the wait.

Looks great! Let me know how it shoots, because I didn't torque down my barrel enough on my Grendel build and it shoot like poo! I think I got a whooping 4.5 inch group!! Hopefully yours works better.

Re: My 6.5 Grendel, sorry for the wait.

Looks great man! I caught the Spikes heavy duty buffer, but whose spring did you use, and are you having any trouble (cycling) when you swap the UBR equipped lower between the 6.5 and 5.56?

Thanks,

-Pat

Re: My 6.5 Grendel, sorry for the wait.

Put a few magazines through both uppers. And they are all brand new, so everything is really tight. The .556 upper was short strokeing almost every 3rd round. So I took the carrier out and put it on the workbench bolt extended, bolt face down, and is just slid down. (Fail Zero coating so slippery the rings wouldn't hold it.) So perhaps I'm going to take the McFarland 1 piece gas ring off and go back to the 3 ring style to see if it fixes that.

The 6.5 upper cycled like a champ, and I didn't have time to put it on paper yet, as we didn't bring a target with us to the quarry where we were shooting. But it was just a function check with hornady box ammo, and I can conferm it was absolutly getting "minute of rock". It looks like it will group better than I am able for quite a while. Will post a true range report when I can put it on paper.

The buffer spring is the one that came with the UBR stock as a kit from Rainier arms. So I couldn't be sure on the manufacter. But I'm almost positive my problems with the .556 were due to the fail zero bolt and carrier being too slippery with my gas ring. More updates to come as I can get to the range.

Re: My 6.5 Grendel, sorry for the wait.

If you handload try Win748 and the 123gr. Lapua Scenars: 120gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip and BL-C(2).

I have the same 18" Sabre bbl on a build and those loads shoot Sub-MOA all day, very accurate.

looks like you have a ton of eye relief on that Ziess!

Re: My 6.5 Grendel, sorry for the wait.

Yea, I went through 3 mounts to get that Ziess looking right. I'm a "nose to the cargeing handle" guy. And still I can't get to the charging handle with that scope. But it's close with the SPR-E mount.

I'm working my load development right now. So I'll have a good report comming soon. I've got the nosler 120's and by accident hornady 129's But here in NE, I have to join a range and pay $250 a year just to go shooting. They should never let desert rats like me live here. I want to go back to shooting off my porch.
