I recently raised enough funds for a new LR rig.

I am torn between a used GA Precision in 300 WM in a A5 stock for around 2700

Or a

Van Dyke AI Tactical Eliminator Super Magnum in .338 LM for 3975 w/ a Stiller Action (lead time of 8 Months)

I have close to no knowledge on Van Dyke Rifles, has anyone had any experience with them? - I've done some research but Van Dyke Rifles doesn't yield alot of outside opinion.

I reload so ammo price for a 300WM or 338LM doesn't factor in. I know GA Precision builds good sticks- just not sure what to get.

If I do get the used GAP I can get a decent NF or Mk4 for it as well.

Re: My Dilemma

I would go with the GAP. Not to take away anything from Van Dyke, but GAP rifles are fantastic.

Plus, you claim you reload but ammo price does not factor in. The cost of the components are not the same so why doesn't ammo prices factor in?

How far would you be shooting? Would you really be able to take advantage of the 338's capabilities?

If and when you go to re-sell it do you think a GAP or Van Dyke would hold its resale value better?

Do you already have a scope for the 338? If not, you said yourself with the GAP you could buy glass too.

Seems pretty cut and dried to me.

Re: My Dilemma

What I meant on the ammo prices is that I reload, but aside from availability of the bullets/brass- price isn't a issue.

No scope for the 338- But by the end of 8 months I will. As for resale I'm not sure- I rarely see a VD rifle on the forums.

i will have access to ranges that range from 600-1300 meters.

I most likely will be taking this gun outwest when I get the chance.

Cactus Weapons/HD rifles I was looking into as well- just gave them a ring, should be getting a call back in an hour or so.
