My DPMS 260 LR

Thoughts/Comments/ Suggestions on the New DPMS. I have not had much time to shoot it or work up good loads but a few handloads i have tried with H4350 and Lapua 139 grainers have produced consistently less than 3/4 MOA with the smallest being .404". Thought about painting it. Maybe Tan Like the M110 with a little grass pattern or something.Thoughts?

I was actually thinking of adding a couple on the bipod for fork and spoon.

But it has to have rails a plenty to look cool right?

Yeah I would suggest taking the scope rails off unless they will serve an actual purpose. But if you like them cause the look cool to you then by all mena, rail it up

Who cares what other people think., I'm not a fan myself but those types of things are out there because everyone has different tastes.

Sounds like you have a shooter there! I am not a fan of a bunch of rails on a gun like that either. I prefer functionality and things being built for a purpose. Don't need a lot of rails for a long range rig like that. I would also ditch the vertical grip.

By they way, I went back and tried some 120 grain bullets with W760 again and confirmed that they result in an overgassed condition in my DPMS 260. Primers were not flattened, but I was getting very noticeable ejector swipes and had couple of pierced primers. And the rifle consistently short stroked. So...W760/H414 is too slow for 120 grain bullets out of this platform. I am going to put an adjustable bas block on it in a couple of days to see if that solves the problem. Will let you know what happens.

Have you tried your adjustable gas block yet to see if that solves the problem?

My DPMS LR260 is pretty plain. A Harris Bipod, Leupold Mark 2 scope, and a wolf sticker.

My loads are powered by H414 and include 140 grains bullets - Remington's Core-Lockt and Nosler HPBTs.

I am happy with it and what it shoots.

Glad it shoots well for you ! I have an LR308 that shoots like ass no matter what load I've tried. Finally got fed up this past week and called Krieger and ordered me a .260Rem bbl. Figured if I'm changing the barrel I might aswell go with a .260 and I just couldnt roll the dice on another DPMS upper.

Good looking rig, I like. I more of a plain jane guy myself, and not to beat the dead horse, not a fan of all teh rails, but hey man, all in all, I DO like the AR, especially the stock. Me like.

Oh my gosh drop the rails guys, its getting old they look fine and the minuscule weight added by them is negligible. Beside they do look kind of cool

Anyway that is one sick stick! I'm sure its heavier than, well something heavy but it sure looks nice. I'm actually in the process of painting one of my 308 builds right now. Duracoat Magpul FDE is my suggestion but do what you will. Is that a DPMS 260 Barrel? I've had really good luck with my 260 barrel from them, happy shooting!

yes that is the factory dpms barrel and i am definitely happy with the way its shooting so far

A guy at my rangs has a DPMS 260. And I am here to tell you, What a shooter. He had a group measuring in at .162, (5) shot group

thats a hell of a group!!! mine (or me) isnt quite that good yet but i do still have the factory trigger in and i have achieved a .404" group with H4350 and 139gr lapua HPBT

Yep...always seems to be a gamble with DPMS. Some are great shooters and some suck. I guess if you roll out as many as they do QC is a real bitch....although the % of bad to good sticks may be no different than most companies that crank out so damn many.....but it has kept me from buying one from DPMS. I'd rather just buy the parts and build mine.

hmmm. ... I am thinking that a DPMS doesn't shoot decent groups is pretty rare. What did you mean by "some suck"?

just seems many of there guns have problems....either FTF or accuracy. They sell so many it is not surprising......but you sure can't beat the price. Seems to me if you get a bad one you send it back or send it to someone who can fix the problem if you can't do it yourself.

....or you may be one of the many who get a great shooter.

Have had a couple issues with DPMS <not hearsay BS, and they alway stood behind their rifles and fixxed for free. Including swapping out 10 of my older mags that never seemed to feed correct for new Magpuls <after i used them for over 3 years.

What trigger did you end up going with? I just got a LR-6.5 and that trigger is painful to use.

RockRiver two stage match, not the greatest but not too expensive and a ton better than the stock 7lb'er

I just completed my dpms 260 upper, And will say that I am pleased with the way it shoots. Accuracy has been between .50-.75 @ 100yds.I wanted to use a kreiger barrel but was too impatient to wait. Function has been perfect.
