My Fair Litttle Town. . .

For about 50 weeks a year Sturgis SD is about as MayBerry as it gets. Morning traffic consists of dodging our "seniors" as they wander down the streets in their Alzheimer induced fog.

Then the vendors come followed by what I call, "The great T shirt festival for fat old guys."

The town goes crazy. The rally has been a bone of contention for a lot of people over the years. The town basically whores itself out to it. Trying to find a way to describe this eloquently can be tough.


Kalli and I were driving down town the other night when I saw this: They say a picture's worth a thousand words.

Rumor has it, they are having a "back to school" clothing blowout sale.

That used to be the major highlight of the year for me and some buds. Couldn't wait for it. Then it started to go downhill. 1990 was the last year for me.

I was there in '05 with the BondSlave's, if you're aware of them at all.

It isn't/wasn't what it was all cracked up to be, for me. But the local 'old west' history was interesting for me. Big time. We stayed at a doc friends place between Sturgis and Deadwood, and set up 'shop' right in Deadwood. At the old Preacher's building right below Wild Bill's grave.

I'm sure you know of what I'm talking.

Very interesting locale, for sure.

I rode in from Stanley,ID once and got to a campground in Spearfish (not the city park) around 11pm and the 1st person I saw was a buddy of mine. What a coincidence as he had no idea I was going to show up there and it was like he was sitting there waiting for me. Anyway, we sat and drank beer until the we hours of the morning and during that time a bunch of drunken Canucks were marching around the campground singing what seemed like mititary songs having a good time. I wonder if they were these BondSlaves you mentioned. Pretty funny watching them though. This was 1990, the Sturgis 50th anniversary.
