I finally took my new toy out to play yesterday. This is my Remington SPS Tactical in .308. I’ve had it sitting around here for a while, but have been waiting for rings forever it seems! I have big future plans for this rifle but for now, I just want to get out and start shooting it! I hope you don't get sick of another noob asking stupid questions, but I'm eager to learn as much as I can about precision shooting, and I think I've come to the right place.
So far it’s pretty much stock. Here’s what I’ve done to it so far:
Shimmed the action away from the Hogue stock a bit
Threaded the bolt, and added an oversized bolt handle
Caldwell bipod
Weaver one piece base (temporary)
TPS Steel rings (lapped)
Vortex Viper PST FFP 6-24X50 scope
I’m shooting Grafs 168gr HPBT with 42.0 grains of Varget for now.
I just finished breaking the barrel in, then started sighting it in. I got these groups until I ran out of ammo.
Cant wait to get a new chassis system, but in the mean time, I’ll keep on playing with it as it is. Luckily I have plenty of reloading components saved up for it!
Next up... ladder test!
Here’s some pics…
Here’s my bolt knob I installed:
Here’s an overview:
I’m still trying to get over the thought of the scope costing more than the rifle…
And here’s my first 100 yard target.
