Rifle Scopes My First US Optics Scope: Suggestions Appreciated

UPS is scheduled to drop off my first US Optics scope today and my first FFP scope for that matter. I am thinking I will mount on a Sig-Sauer M400 Predator (5.56/.223Rem.)and will shoot hand loaded Sierra 65 gr. SBT GameKing under some CFE-223. I would be grateful for some suggestions on the below items:

What are a few ideal scope bases? It was suggested I use a set of rings at least 1” in height or a 1 piece mount. Since the MR-10 is set up from the factory with a 100 yard zero on a 20moa rail, and I think the Sig rail may be 0moa, to be able to also shoot long range, perhaps a 20moa in the rail or in the mount. I have found these options that seem to fit the bill but would like a few more, perhaps a bit more economical if still good solid mounts. I need 3.1" clearance between the rings.

Tips for a SFP MOA guy to learn how to use the new FFP MIL reticle? Videos, explanations, etc.?

If my weapon choice is a good fit for this gun or if I should instead put it on a bolt gun in .223 or .260 Rem. Looking for an all around do everything optic for the AR.

Any other tips, education, suggestions, are greatly appreciated!

I have the exact same USO scope on my .264 lbc. It's a bit tricky to mount on a AR with a non monolithic upper due to how wide the center of the scope is. Regular one piece mounts are too close together. This is mount I used. https://www.americandefensemanufactu...w/product/628/

It's a quick release with built in 20moa slope. It is also just high enough to clear Troy folding back up irons.

The SCAR mount you linked will also work, it's just higher than it needs to be. You would just need to build up your cheek riser more.


Going from a second focal to first is easy. The reticle is always relative to target size. No longer have to remember if your magnification setting is correct for the reticle scale. With first focal, what you see with s what you get.
