I mentioned this a couple weeks ago, but a guy gave me an RCBS 4x4 press. I have been wanting to get into a progressive press for a couple years but kept putting it off for one reason or another. I did some research and found that unlike most people (myself included) the said guy had not lost a single part. I ordered a shell plate from midway and with a 20 min. assembly and install I was off and running.
The 4x4 is an old progressive press and to be honest, it's a really basic system. Not single stage but not automatic either. It requires manual indexing, manual powder throw, the priming is like most progressives except you have to flip the little switch to get the primer ready. So, it's a yesterday progressive press but damn fun. 50 rounds from start to finish took 20 min. (granted I was paranoid so double checking everything). More importantly than the time I saved, was the fun factor. I really enjoyed it. I forgot how much fun reloading can really be. So, my plan is to use this press for a year or two max and buy a nice Dillon 650 or something close and pass this press on for free as it was passed to me.
