Not sure if I've seen another one of these on this site so I figured I would share..
I was on a mission to find 22lr accuracy.. i explored cz's, Kidd's, factory Rugers and savages and this is what I ended up with.. I will post progress of my groups so you can see if this procedure is actually work it..
Here is a little blip about what Connecticut Precision Chambering does...
10/22 Gunsmith Notes: Ruger 10/22 barrels are cut with a standard SAAMI .22 reamer which cuts .062" too deep. Production speed machine reaming often leaves burrs in throat and chambers not concentric to bore. Aftermarket barrels have tighter, shorter chambers (sometimes too tight) than the SAAMI print but seldom short or concentric enough for maximum accuracy.
CPC designs its own reamers for the 10/22 called CPC Freebore chamber for ideal function and accuracy. Setback is .187" to .250" on breech end. The newly cut area on barrel shank is oversize for a 'line to line' tight fit into the receiver stabilizing the two parts. A steel spacer is cut and hand fit into the barrel lockdown cut to insure proper retightening. CPC fits a reamer pilot to the exact bore size and re-reams each barrel by hand. New chamber throat and crowns are cut concentric to bore within .0002".
The thing that intrigued me was that they actually thread the barrel into the receiver and do away with the V-block all together..also tune the trigger and true the bolt to the barrel.
What I found out quickly is if you don't have your 10/22 in a decent stock you're wasting your time and ammo. I originally had this BA in a archangel deluxe stock which was stiff but still had up and down movement of the receiver. Since I put it in a Titan with a rear tang it is a night and day difference! I mounted a Athlon Midas Tac 6-24 on top. The only thing I didn't realize is how short the comb is on the Titan so I think I'll have a better check weld once I get their cheek riser system.
Btw this BA came with a cleaning port and the cutout for a Kidd rear tang.
So far I've tried Wolf match, Cci SV, Aguila Rifle Match and Lapua Center X. Some were shot with the old stock
Below are the pics of the original stock and the only pics I took of groups..
