Hey everyone!
I just found and purchased this rifle a few weeks ago. I finally completed a personal goal of mine in that, I now have an example of a sniper rifle from every major power of WW2. All are authentic with authentic accessories/parts as I don't believe in repro with the exception of my M1903a1 Unertl rifle because I need to win the lottery to buy one of those. So now as it sits, I have
United States:
Z Prefix 1903a4
WRA M1D
M1903a1 Unertl (Clone)
Russia:
Mosin PU
Japan:
Matching Type 99 Sniper
Misc:
Swedish M41B
England:
Matching No4 Mk1 (T)
Germany:
Matching K98k ZF41
Matching K43 AC45 with Scope and Mount
Now onto the Type 99...
It's a late one. I don't want to say "rare" but it's up there. Only 11k Type 99 Snipers were made compared to the 22k earlier Type 97's in 6.5 Japanese. Of the 11k, 1,000 of those were made by Kokura easily making that the rarest. The other 10,000 were made by Nagoya and that is what mine is having a sn of 9719. The rifle is correct for not having a monopod or having a band to support a monopod, no AA sights, and no dustcover. The rifle is all matching down the bolt. The mum is mostly intact with a single strike through it. The strike is pretty low so I think it is still an attractive mum. It was duffel cut behind the band but it is at the gunsmith now getting that repaired along with 2 other rifles that had duffel cuts. Now, all I need is a 4x scope! These seem to be really hard to find and there's an attractive one on ebay but the guy wont budge on his price.
