so far i have a savage 10 in 308 with a swift 8-32x50mm scope for a starter and a bell&carson stock and im looking to order a 30in barrel but dont know where to order it from dont really want to pay alot for it but i still want a good barrel.Any one know where i can get one from?

You *could* use a 30 inch barrel.... but if your friend thinks you *need* a 30 inch tube to get to 600 yards with a .308 then you need to do a lot of reading here on The Hide before you waste your money!

s.i.t.'s set-up looks well balanced.

Put a 12-ftr barrel on and be nose heavy.

FPS can be made up in proper loads.

i have a 24" 1:10 adams and bennet match barrel on mine and its hits very well. its reasonably priced as well. i shoot 190smk from 600-1000 and am happy with the results.

mine is a 24" 1:10 as well shooting 178 amax's sub moa at 300 yards. definetly love this set up. thanks TCA4570

Spider firearms (as in 50 caliber ferret) sells Lothar-Walther barrels pre chambered and pre threaded, My initial observations are favorable, I will know more when the weather improves a bit.
As mentioned above Pac-nor has them too, as well as Shilen and serveral others. If you are set on a 30inch tube you will probobly have to special order it or have it done by a smith.

have you checked out mcgowen barrels? I love mine very accurate cleans easy they also give a discount for first time customers I got mine for about $350 26" ss fluted threaded chambered and crowned their # is 406-755-4907
