Just got back from the first run with my new setup. We will start with a little background:

I ordered from Noveske a couple of months ago and ordered the Schmidt and Bender at the same time. I was going all in on this build, all the good shit.

I got the scope in first, like a little boy at christmas immediately opened it and took outside for a peek. Bigger than shit...3 black spots in the glass. I put it back in its original packing and sent it to S&B to fix. During this time my rifle came in and I took it out for a spin with the open sights. Had to adjust the windage all to one side to get on the paper but it held a nice group and I couldnt wait to get the scope back in to see what it could really do.

Scope came back from S&B last week, I opened the box and all that was inside was the scope. Not even the lens cover was returned or anything else that came with the original packing that I sent back with it (minor problem, but annoying). One of the lenses had shit all over it...I got it cleaned up and anxiously got it mounted and ready for its first run today.

Got the targets set up and was going to start out at 25 yards just to get pointed in the right direction. First shot: way low and way left. Make large adjustment....next shot: a little closer. Make large adjustment....next shot: a little closer. Make large adjustment....next shot: a little closer. No more windage or elevation adjustment left and I am still 4 inches away at 25 yards. WTF!!!! is calmly screaming through my head. I then notice that the BBL is way off center of the upper.

F. ME.

There is a lesson in here somewhere.

fyi, the upper is the VLTOR Monolithic.

Re: My Schmidt and Bender on my Noveske

Since you ran out of windage with both iron sights and your S&B, I think there is a "lesson" - your barrel is probably not mounted correctly in the receiver extension. Could be a problem with the receiver extension, the barrel, or the receiver.

Re: My Schmidt and Bender on my Noveske

Can happen with any maker, but this is the kind of stuff QC should prevent from leaving the building.

I have had several Noveske's and several Schmidt's, both will make it right. Sorry for your hassle, but in the end, they are as good as you originally thought.

Re: My Schmidt and Bender on my Noveske

Did you contact Noveske? Sounds like the barrel nut wasn't tightened properly which is very unusual with Noveske quality and attention to detail.

As a rule its usually a good idea to contact the manufacture before posting online to allow them to make it right. I am sure they want to know how it happened more than you do...

Re: My Schmidt and Bender on my Noveske

That sucks. Everyone has QC problems once in a while. I am sure they will take care of you. I feel these type of post need to be seen so people know these problems exist among the high end manufacturer, Not just the cheap stuff.

Re: My Schmidt and Bender on my Noveske

Had a heavy profile Afgan barrel (bought new) with a problem, and couldn't even get them or the seller to look at it on my dime (both refused delivery). Since everybody knows their stuff is flawless/perfect, it had to be me, was the responce from both them and the retailer (wording so identical they may have been using the same teleprompter)!

Replaced it with a CLE profiled & fluted Wilson Match blank 1/7 SS barrel, obviously from a different shop, no problems at all.
The lesson here is some of the best reputations aren't deserved, especially the ones that are most vigorously defended on internet forums via a bunch of fan boys.

Would love to hear the rest of that story.

Mine has the same issue, although not as bad. POI was about 10 inches right of POA @ 100yds. Shoots great, though. As far as accuracy, sub moa (-edit- when I do my part) with 262 mod 1 fwiw; even with the cross-eyed looking barrel and upper. Noveske 14.5 fluted 1:7PT with VIS-2.
