I got a chance to see one of these and play with it at night on an SPR type rifle looking out over a field (couldn't shoot with it). I went out and had it shined on me as well. There is NO DOUBT that you have been painted but it's impossible to look at the light source.

I liked it a lot. I'm wondering if anyone has played with it at some distance. The owner has shot with it out to 300Y but believes there is potential to use it further than that.

I'm interested how far it could be used practically to shoot, and with what kind of rig (AR/Carbine, or precision rig).

Thanks,

i had one... very nice, but parallax was a pain in the ass... you have to adjust it if you shoot at any distance other than the one you set it for originally...

Other than that, it's awesome for hunting... IF you have good optics. I could see clear as day with my zeiss... my buddy couldn't see much at all with his bushnell banner.

realistically, with a GOOD scope, i could see about 250 yards well enough to identify hogs, if it was DARK.

I would be using a NF NXS with it.

Prolly going to give it a try. I liked the ability to tighten or spread the beam out easily.

I also see there's another model out there claiming to go out to 500Y.

We have two night suppressor matches coming in September and I will be using it for damn sure.

Re: NDS-3 Laser designator - anyone shot with it?

I have the 400 yard model. It works very well as you can tighten or open up the beam depending on the ranges. The longer your shooting the more you'll tighten the beam. Even with a wide beam you can see the animals eyes and should be able to use your cross hairs.

We're just starting to have fun with mine. BTW Nachez has the cheapest price I've seen, mine was $80.00 cheaper than Midway USA

Re: NDS-3 Laser designator - anyone shot with it?

the only problem ive had is the mounts, the adjustable scope mount is one of the worst bits of cheap crap ive seen!
if any one knows of a better alternative please drop me a line

How has the quality/reliability been on these (other then the mounts)? I have seen mixed reviews about them in the past and was wondering if they had improved. Some were good, some performed poorly, some were DOA.

Re: NDS-3 Laser designator - anyone shot with it?

its bsa quality, watch out for cold it really does dim the beam,
some times it looks like there is a slight shadow on one side if you point it at a wall in the house, but outside in the fields its so slight you cant see the fault, what we need is some one like lightforce or surefire to make one,
the concept of it really is good

Re: NDS-3 Laser designator - anyone shot with it?

The designator is fairly well built, the pressure switch is garbage, I have mine mounted with a LaRue flashlight QD mount, works well for me, I can take it off and put it in my pocket in cold weather (green lasers hate cold weather, just FYI.)

I like mine, works great.

Re: NDS-3 Laser designator - anyone shot with it?

Might be selling mine shortly (with LaRue QD), night optic inbound.

It's a good piece of gear, but prey knows something is up when the light hits them. Keep it out of their eyes and you should be OK. "Should."
