With my first custom build (Brux barrell on a Stiller action chambered for 6.5 Creedmoor) on its way, I'm thinking of using a neck sizing die for the first time. Question is, as long as I stick with the same brass and bullets can I use a a friends known loaded bullet measurement to determine what bushing to order or can brass vary between production lots.

That will be fine, as long as he has the same brand of brass that you'll be using. Also, it won't matter what brand of bullet. They're all the same diameter.

These are very inexpensive , and a great working tool that produce fantastic runout numbers . Can have Lee customize a mandrel for your desired neck tension if needed , but the standard .0015-.002 works great for most applications

These are very inexpensive , and a great working tool that produce fantastic runout numbers . Can have Lee customize a mandrel for your desired neck tension if needed , but the standard .0015-.002 works great for most applications

That's surely what I've done and I don't look back. INHO, bushings are okay for tight neck chambers but not for my SAAMI chambers. And I wouldn't bet bushings work better than Lee's collet dies even for the custom chambers.

AGREE. Get the Lee collet and keep a lot of $$$ in your pocket.

My newbie two cents, these guys are right. I bought a Redding Type S bushing sizer initially but always noticed the pressure when seating bullets varied by quite a bit, plus you are supposed to neck size in steps using the bushings per redding, which would have meant multiple sizing steps for me and my chamber.
Honestly, the cheap cost of the Lee Collet steered me away thinking it couldn't possibly work.
I finally made the switch and couldn't be happier. Group sizes improved too. I now use my Redding (gutted) to bump the shoulder only...expensive body die.

Another +1 for the Lee collet die. Very consistent neck tension and practically no stretching.

never tried,and never handled Creed brass,but I would call someone at Lee first,with the measures of your Creed's neck at hand_ can be you can obtain a semi-custom die from some other 6,5 brass (6,5 Swede perhaps ?), or obtain good instructions about adapt it by yourself_

Redding neck sizing die works very good and gives you round to round constancy needed to shoot tight groups. You need to figure out the amount of neck tension for your specific chamber.
Once you fire form case in your gun, the less you move the brass the better. I'm using 0001.5" neck tension according the directions given by the Redding.
