Necking up brass

I've made some "expander balls" for FL sizing dies that were a polished tapered pin for "necking up." You should probably anneal the necks afterward and beware the donut at the neck/shoulder junction. You might have to turn the necks afterward to eliminate the donut.

Buy a mandrel die and the appropriate mandrel. Brownells/Sinclair sells them reasonably. There are others as well. Lube up your necks and mandrel, and go to town.

This and the expander die should be all I need?

Hoping I don’t have to turn necks, is there a way around that?

Don't seat bullet heels past the NSJ?

Don't neck up very far? .019" diameter is not much. I'd give it a go.

It's not a problem until it's a problem. :ROFLMAO:

You might find that annealing the cases prior to expanding the necks might get you crushed cases or inside out necks. Your mileage may vary of course but most I've seen have expanded then annealed. Its a shame to waste cases.
