I know this has been discussed before however I have specific a requirement. The rifle in question is a Savage 110BA 300WM, this is the model from a few years ago with the McCann MIRS M24 rail, the rifle came with a freakin huge brake the size of a soda can.

The barrel measures .900" at the muzzle with 5/8x24 thread, I want a brake with the ports perpendicular to the bore, I do not want them angled back, causes too much blast to the shooter, Im willing to sacrifice a little performance.

What can you guys think of to recommend ? I do like the self timing styles and Badger FTE but the Badger is designed to clamp around the barrel with a specific diameter and my .900" is too big, unless Badger would open up the brake to fit .900"

Thanks

I'm doing a 300 PRC build and I think I've settled on getting a Insite Arms Heathen muzzle brake. Quite a few people on here have recommended them and it's a good looking brake in my opinion. Give it a once over.

If they don’t have what you are looking for in their website call them and they will make you one. Very effective and won’t break the bank.

I agree with this. I’m having him make a brake for my rifle right now. Very nice guy to work with and he has a YouTube channel with comparing his brakes to others. That and he seems to be about half the cost as the rest of the competition!

Area 419 sidewinder
Mark at SAC recomended this for my 300 NORMA which is an outstanding brake. It was so good, my mentor went out and bought one immediately and put it on his 6.5. The sidewinder is a magnum version of the hellfire that became so popular, they now make one for 6.5.

The OP doesn’t want a brake with rearward facing ports. Although this is a great brake I do t believe it’s what he’s looking for..

Your consistent!
I would agree, get ahold of Nathan at Muzzle Brakes and More and see what he can do for your exact needs. Great guy to deal with.

For having angled back ports the MBM blast is not terrible at the shooter and they definitely work.
The Heathen has noticeably less blast at shooter with maybe a bit less recoil reduction.
