My dad wants to go a bison hunt next spring. I don’t really have a rifle setup for hunting like this.

I have a savage in a left hand right port in 7mm rem mag. It has been timed and trued from sharpshootersupply. I could get a carbon fiber bartlein barrel for this rifle.

The other rifle is a Mausingfield in 300 Norma magnum. Again I could get a carbon fiber wrapped barrel in 30 caliber. I’d go with southern precision rifles to do the barrel work. I’m not looking at any other calibers other than these two. Which route would you guys go with?

I agree with the above. The bison draw hunts around here are mostly drive-up and shoot. Getting the bison out would be a substantially larger consideration than the weight of a barrel, which is why most places worth shooting will have easy accessibility.

I decided to go a different route. Went with a Tikka Roughtech in left hand 7mm rem mag. Already impressed with the accuracy. Figured it would be cheaper buying it, instead of rebarreling and finding a lightweight stock for the Mausingfield
