I think I’m finally going to breakdown and get a UTV this year for hunting and trail riding.

My current issue is how do you fit a trailer and UTV into a 3rd car garage? It’s too high to back in with it on the trailer and I’ve been having a terrible time trying to find a drop trailer that would allow this.

    Anyone solved this problem?

Could you drive it up on the trailer from inside the garage as someone is backing it in? Pain isn’t the ass to do that each time you have to move it, but it might work

I think it would hit the garage door opener.

Was hoping to find some kind of drop deck trailer that would be really low to the ground that I could put it on and just back it in but haven’t had any luck yet.

The deck on the trailer would have to be about 10 inches off the ground. Or if I could find one that lowers all the way to the ground would be awesome.

empty trailer takes up too much room sideways?

Yeah. I’ve got about 20 ft in length to work with. I might be able to park the utv sideways then bring in the trailer with the tongue on the ground between the wheels of the utv.

What I’m really interested in is something like this but I haven’t been able to find one for sale. I’ve seen some plans on how to build them.

This one is for a motorcycle so it would have to be bigger.

Raise the door. This is a common problem with owning lifted trucks as well. If you have the room, cut the opening to fit another door panel. You should clear it then.

What's the height difference and how much can you pull the UTV suspension down with proper ratcheting tie downs pulling vertical?

The release the tie downs once inside.

You can position D-rings to create the vertical and anchor points.

UTV, no problem parking in the garage. A trailer that's large enough to tow it, probably not going to fit it any "normal" garage. Myself, I pay monthly for a storage unit unfortuantely.

Have a trailer built using these rather than springs or a torsion axle.
The trailer can be built very low if needed.
Dan builds all of his trailers for a specific use to include axle width.

Man, I looked at some of those and they are over $11k!! I can build an add on to my garage for that much money.

I think I’m going to explore the build route. Am even trying to research and you just modify a regular trailer with airbags like you do a vehicle so that it will drop down several inches. I just need the deck top to be less than 10 inches off the ground for it to fit.

I was just gonna suggest that very thing. Can never have TOO much space....

HOA code and the wife doesn’t want anything parked in the driveway. Worst case I could park it in the backyard but there is a slope and I think it will end up tearing up my grass. So hoping to find an easier solution.

    1st world problems...

Use the UTV to park it back there. They’ll be easier on the grass and easier to maneuver it in tight spaces.

I park my 26’ gooseneck and 12’ bumper pull in the alley. Sometimes I park the 12’ bumper pull in the shop in my parents backyard. When I do that I use my Defender to park it. Works just fine.

Heading to the trailer shop this weekend. Hoping I can find a trailer low enough to clear once I’m in the garage. That way I could walk the trailer in, chock/block it off and then ride the UTV on it.

That’s plan A at this point.

I also have plan B and C and D lined out, haha.

Outside of the garage/trailer thing, what are you thinking about getting UTV-wise?

Looking at either a Honda Pioneer 1000-5 or 700-4. I need something I can use for hunting as well as trail riding with the family. It’s seems like the best thing on the market for a dual role like that.

The Yamaha Wolverine X4 would be next in line just pending on the types of deals I can get on the Honda.

Hard to go wrong with a Honda. The Kawasaki Mule gets pretty good reviews overall, along with the Polaris Ranger.

I went the power/suspension route on mine - not exactly "utility" though. Storage is a problem at the moment. Need to have a little TIG work done to remedy that.

Also, it's so damn wide that I have to run a max legal width 8'-6" trailer to fit it. I store mine off-sit - doubles as a secondary workshop. We indeed have first world problems.

That rzr looks like a blast. I’d like to have something like that someday just for ripping down the trails.

I picked mine up yesterday and today figured out how to get it and the trailer in my garage. I just did some rearranging and parked the UTV sideways and pulled the trailer in perpendicular so that the tongue of the trailer goes between the wheels of the UTV.

That should work for a while but I think I’m still going to do a chop top on it to see if I can get it in while sitting on the trailer.
