Need advise on equipment

Looking for a suggestion on a spotting scope to be used in high power matches. What is the best bang for the buck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Good point I am just getting started so I have to buy lots of gear. I would like to stay around $500.00 range.

I'm using a TS 611 Kowa. Price wise it's about middle of the road as far as Kowas go. I've had it a long time, used the hell out of it, and have been very happy with it. If high power is your main use definately get an angled eyepiece and get an eyepiece with long eye relief. For high power the you'll use a scope mostly for reading mirage and seeing scores. My Kowa has been used in rain, snow, ice, brutal heat, been dropped, kicked, knocked over, you name it, and I've never had a problem. As good as the day I got it.

I would buy the best Vortex spotter I could afford. They have several quality levels, each being a good value, IMO. Customer service and their warranty are top notch.

I have heard good things about Konus scopes from Jim Owens. The Service Rifle guys use them. Jim Owens is a former Marine and respected in the High Power community.

Thanks for they advise. I have been looking at the Konus a they seem very reasonably priced. I was looking for some reviews on those. I have a Nikon that I currently use but it is only a 20 power.

+1 on the Konus, quite clear optics for the price range. I was pleasantly surprised with its capability.

I have decided to go with the konus, especially since my brother can get them for $240.00 just can't pass this deal up.
