Don't forget to look at the goodwill auction site. I scored a pair of Steiner 7x50 Military/Marine binoculars with a compass in them for $150.00. It cost me another $50 to send them back to Steiner and have a new compass, compass switch, and battery installed, but with shipping, I'm still into them only ab out $225.00. They also have the mil scale in the right lens, so it is really easy to direct someone to whatever I'm looking at. 264 degrees and 5 mils out can direct someone to whatever I'm looking at if they have a compass and mil scale, or if I just let them look through my binos. The lenses on the ones I got are like new... I think they retail for around $1200-1500.
Goodwill auctions doesn't always have what I want, but it is sure worth checking from time to time.
