Need data for .224 50gr VMAX and REL15

Re: Need data for .224 50gr VMAX and REL15

Just throw in 25 grains and call it good. You'll get around 3100 fps with it. You can easily crank up to 27.5 but for fireforming I run lighter loads to conserve on powder.

Hey BachelorJack, happy to return the favor (I owe you one as is).

So just ran your load through Quickload. I believe 25.0gr may not provide the best fireform given the data. I'd suggest giving it a little more to ensure a good fireform.

Here are the Quickload inputs:
.224 Hornady 50gr VMAX, Reloader 15, .223 Ackley Imp case allowing 31gr H20.

Gr Wt---Pressure---fps
25.0---35509---3013
26.0---40220---3142
27.0---45633---3271
28.0---51868---3402
29.0---58994---3533 <-112.0% case capacity
29.5---62961---3599 <-114.0% case capacity

The above should help you pick and choose what pressure will give you a good fireform. I tend to stick with 50K plus on my 260 REM to 260 AI brass for a perfect fireform. YMMV.
