I have a Remington 700 police model in 308. i have bedded it myself and have installed a leopold 15 MOA scope base. I have all that and the only glass i have is the sightmark triple duty 8.5x25. Yes i know it sucks hardcore and wont track. Im trying to find some good quality glass to finish this rifle off. as of right now i have a tight budget, so it cant cost any more than $500. :/ is there anything out there that stands out from the crowd at this price range? If i have to i might sell a couple of my MSA headsets or my Liberator 3 headset but that is the last option.

I bought a model 10 savage about 8 months ago that had the exact same scope on it. I started searching for new glass, but used the sightmark in the mean time. Well, 8 months and probably 1000 rnds later the SM is still on there and doing well. It tracks perfectly. The glass does suck above 18 -20x, but the thing is still holding up so far. I would give it a chance. It very well may hold up long enough for you to save up instead of selling something to get what you want.

How far are you looking to shoot? I have the same rifle as you, but in 300wm. I got a nice Zeiss Conquest scope for it on sale at cabelas thats right in your price range. Its my favorite hunting rifle at the moment. Zeiss glass is crystal clear.
well you see jig stick. im going to use this rifle for hunting mainly and long range shooting when i get the chance. Hoodlum i had almost the same story only mine will track some of the time and then it wont. its like some of the adjustments work and some dont. i like the look of it no doubt but i will take a scope that looks like barney if it does the job i need it.
This is good advice. If you can spend a little bit more you can get a used Bushnell elite tactical mil/mil for $600-650. Under $500 my money would most likely go to a 10x or 12x SWFA SS with mil knobs and Milquad reticle.
