hello gentlemen.
I have a Daewoo DR-200 that I absolutely adore. However, I am wanting more out of it. Since there is no offered/available barrel other than the standard profile, 1-12 twist (that I have been able to find), I have decided to have a custom barrel made for it. I have spent all day on the phone with various barrel makers and gunsmiths and nobody really wants to touch this thing, or knows enough about it to offer any substantial advice or direction to take.
So my first question is;
1. Is there a custom barrel maker/finisher you know that might want to undertake making a custom barrel for a daewoo dr-200 from a blank?
Second, one of my good friends is a master machinist. If I can't find someone who does this stuff regularly, I plan to buy a blank with the twist I want. Then using the standard barrel to pull dimensions for the gas port, headspacing, threading, etc... I will get my friend to machine the blank to match.
In regards to the second option, my question is this:
2. Do you know of a guide or step by step detail of finishing tasks for a barrel? I am meaning more of a technical terms type of thing that a professional precision machinist could follow?
Any help would be greatly appreciate.
Thanks
SjF
