I have a savage 10 fcp hs precision. I just rebarreled it in 6.5/284 Norma and used an aftermarket barrel lug . When I drop the barreled action into my stock a push on the rear of the action it wants to teter- totter with in the stock. I am about to lightly bed the stock so should I carve out where the lug goes for the action to fit flush?

Sounds like the lug is longer than the old one. Might want to check it before you go any further.

Your aftermarket lug is taller. The stock needs the lug pocket milled out and then re-bed.
