My friend has whatever the Savage is that comes in the MDT chassis (Stealth?). He wants to add a rail so he can use something like a leveling base for more stability when shooting off a tripod. MDT offers varying retail sections (3.3", 7", 9", etc), but the issue is he has one of the first generation chassis, so he only has 3 M-lok slots and one hole for the sling stud. He also has an Atlas bipod, so he's running a picatinny rail that's about 2" long.

I've showed him the RRS M-lok adapter plate and recommended the RRS clamp for the Atlas as suggestions, since he'll probably have to replace the picatinny rail with the dovetail. He's called MDT, but they really haven't been much help. They swear he has four slots, when he only has three, and they're telling him everything will fit without listening to him.

Got any other suggestions for dovetail rail section for attaching to a leveling base? Ideally it would be short enough to allow him to attach to the leveling base without having to remove the bipod, but that's not a necessity, since he can use a clamp on a long dovetail rail or even a shorter picatinny rail section. I'm sure there are options i'm missing or haven't thought about, so I turn to you fine folks

Area 419 makes an MLOK arca rail in different lengths with mlok cuts on the bottom, so you could use the three slots to add the area 419 rail, then add an MLOK picatinnny section for a bipod up front

Do they? I was just on the Area 419 website and I only found the 12" length. Which is currently OOS. The 4" model from XLR looks good though for someone with limited length up front.

I also have the 3 slot stealth chassis. Ran into the same issue. Not sure what your friend’s skill levels are, but it didn’t take too long to mark, drill and tap the chassis to move rails and plates farther forward or rearward on the fore end. Now I can run the rail for the Atlas, as well as the tripod plate.

Then you should have room to for the MDT rail. https://mdttac.com/products/mdt-ess-foregrip-arca-rrs-adapter

Area 419 has a new locking ARCA rail system in pre-order. It looks pretty neat in the YouTube video.

If I were buying, it would be on my short list and all of the Area 419 stuff I've bought is really nice quality.

Guys, I appreciate all the responses. @Spblademaker we had the same thoughts as you when looking at his chassis. I imagine milling an additional M-lok slot shouldn't be too difficult, if it can be done in the area where the sling stud hole is, which is where you appear to have yours. I didn't think it would be too hard, since I believe Magpul gives you the specs for the slots on their website.

Yeah. I did one where the stud was. And added one towards the magwell too.

Hey canezach, so sorry that we weren't as helpful as you'd have liked, but let me see if I can help answer your question! You are 100% correct that your stealth has 3 m-lok slots, however they are a bit of a pain to machine precisely. By using our 3.3" m-lok arca adapter (https://mdttac.ca/products/m-lok-arca-swiss-rail-adapter) which takes up 1.5 slots and a 2.5" m-lok picatinny rail (https://mdttac.ca/collections/rails-nv-hoods/products/mdt-aluminum-picatinny-m-lok-rail) also 1.5 slots, you could get the best of both worlds and keep the sling swivel :D Personally, that's what I would reccomend.

Another option (which was mentioned above) is to convert your bipod to be arca compatible (http://soar.reallyrightstuff.com/BTC-Pro-Clamp-for-Atlas-Bipod) and run one of our longer M-lok arca adapters. This way, you will have to remove the sling swivel and most likely have to remove some of the m-lok protrusions on the back with a belt sander/file.

If you have more questions, feel free to PM me anytime!

Hey Zach, I know this is resurrecting an old thread but just saw your post while looking for some MLOK arca swiss style plate options and came across this one by Hog Saddle, it's the smallest I've seen so might work for your friend - http://stores.hogsaddle.com/marc-m-lok-plate/

Thanks, Bill! He ended up buying a rail online, but I believe he either had to have the rail or his chassis machined a little bit for it to fit.

I figured he might have found a solution already so maybe this will help someone else looking for an MLOK Arca Style plate that doesn't take up many MLOK slots. Hope all is well Zach, up for a shoot once all this snow melts in about a year ;)

Absolutely! I ordered a 25 Creedmoor barrel for my Desert Tech and 2k of the Blackjack 131s, so I need to get some good data out to 1K

I haven't even heard of the 25 Creedmoor, crazy, how many Creedmoor's will they make, I saw Q has a 338 Creedmoor in the works, basically the large frame AR equivalent of the 300 Blackout, I believe Hornady is in cahoots with them so will be curious if that round makes it to the public soon, but sending a 300gr pill with high BC downrange at subsonic sounds fun. Don't want to derail the thread so I'll PM you.
