Guys need your recommendation on a bottom metal made out of steel to put on my SPS with hogue overmold stock with aluminum frame. The factory piece cracked from me over tightening the damn thing and not paying attention to the setting on the torque wrench. So if you would please recommend one that is around $300, made out of steel, and would fit the stock with out needing a trip to a gunsmith. A detachable mag would be great if it's doable. I guess if there are aluminum parts that are though then that would work as well.
Thanks.

You got the PTG that takes AICS Mags for around $110.00 w/o mag But it aluminum. Or Wyatts for around 250.00 but they are is single stacked mags I think if thats a problem. And they are aluminum Im sorry to say.CDI takes AICS mags for around 200.00 w/o mag and aluminum. Can't get away from the aluminum Im afraid. Unless one of the guys know of a trick fit.Badger is going to get you into the mid 400.00 range.Good luck!

Ptg. They have steel bdl style units. I don't know of anyone making a steel aics system. The ptg units I have will hold up. The rem bottom metal on the sps has angled screw heads - I think that makes the unit more prone to fracture from over torque. And they seem cast...

How hard did you crank on that thing? Did you use a cheater bar? :)

Inletting for the PTG DBM varies depending on the stock it's going into, but in most of the cases I've seen, the hardest part of the inlet is cutting the front tang inlet, since the sides aren't parallel, and there's a radius leading into the tang.

All the short action PTG DBM I've used were a drop-in fit on B&C & McM stocks factory inletted for B-O M5, but when I put a LA PTG unit into the M5 inlet in a McM A3-5 stock, I wound up having to make a .030" thick shim for the rear tang in order to keep it from rocking.

Their Howa DBM is an easy fit for stocks inletted for factory Howa floor plate units.

flatland it will be going into hogue overmold with aluminum frame. Has any one installed PTG in that stock?

Kelson no didnt use the bar, it's a good size torque wrench though for a in/lbs type. I think you hit the nail on the head, the crews and screw seat both have angle to them so the bolt just kept sinking in until bottom metal just said ef it and cracked.
