I'm assembling components for my next build and the money is beginning to tighten up. I'm currently running a very inexpensive mount on my son's AR so he needs an upgrade too.
His rifle is a carbine with an adjustable stock and the scope is a Vortex Viper 2-7x32 BDC. Mine is rifle length (or will be) with an A2 buttstock and will initially be a Bushnell 10x40 Mildot.
I don't believe either of these scopes are know for excessive eye relief. His has an offset mount now that can't be utilized with the stock fully extended and the mount located farthest forward.
I'd love to be able to get away with a couple of risers and standard rings such as the Burris Zee ring for the time being.
But I've found these and was wondering if any has an opinion>
SWFA S.S.A.L.T. 30mm Scope Mount
It's certainly a step up in what I have my son's scope mounted in and the price is equal to what I would pay for two risers and a set of Zee rings. The offset is there but could be located farther back as needed. Also, it has the 1" inserts so that if we ever stepped up in tube diameter, the mount could handle it. I just don't want to buy them if they are crap. The look to be comparable to the Burris PEPR mount.
Thanks,
Paul
