Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum and would appreciate your expertise. I recently bought an LMT LM308MWSE. I also purchased a TA11 ACOG with a TA51 Trijicon mount (two threaded knobs on left side). I am having a problem where after 10 or 15 rounds, the locking knobs loosen up. I use a quarter to hand tighten the knobs and I tighten them using a quarter in the slot as tight as I can get the knobs to go. I realize I could probably use lock-tite and a wrench, but that would eliminate the quick removal of the scope.

Can you guys recommend an ACOG mount that is proven to hold up to .308 without loosening and also retains a quick removal feature?

Thanks!

Re: Need recommendation for ACOG mount for LMT .308

I don't like the "burnishing" on my receiver rails from the Larue levers.

Bobro depends on spring tension to hold the mount. Don't know if I trust spring tension for the long term.

I went with American Defense Mfg. mount found here:
http://www.americandefensemanufacturing.com/view/product/17/
things I like about ADM:
levers can be switched left side or right side, also flip forward or backwards.
Don't rub into my receiver rails like the Larue.
Lever lock is quicker to use than Larue.

Anyway, just my opinion, any of the three will serve well.

I like the Larue. I have them on on my 10 AR's and I have never had a problem with any of my Aimpoints or ACOG's coming loose.

I will say that I looked at mine before I posted and I do have scratches, dings, and marks which I might add just simply show that they have been used like the tools out in my garage.

Mark Larue stands behind his products and if you ever have a problem with them he will stand behind his product for life.

Larue is the standard by which all other are judged. The marks on the rail, first off they are very hard to find if you don't know they are there and oh there is the fact you to have remove the optic mount to see them! Secondly, this is a AR, not a GAP safe queen. Who cares, do yourself a favor and drag it through the gravel in the driveway for 5 mins so you don't care anymore.

Seconded.

LaRue iisn't always my first choice, but in the case of a throw lever ACOG mount it absolutely is.
This same base was my choice for a custom D-760 Night Vision scope mount.
The base seems to hold zero with the widest range of tension of any mount. In my experience, practically loose and it holds zero.

No kidding, in for thirded? anyway, rifles were meant to be used, if I got a dollar for every scratch, I'd have more rifles than I could scratch, I'd have to start throwing them in a pile. I like LaRue mounts second to none, as said above, I'm not sure either about the spings on Bobro, and I have had American Defense, and I went back to LaRue. I guess for you safe queen owners you could get ARMS mounts, since you dont plan on them touching any thing.
