I'm looking for some external dimensions on the Rem 700 action. I've got a design project underway for a self-designed bolt gun and I'd like to have a decent selection of high quality stocks without having to go to a full custom job.

My idea is to make it so that I can fit this barreled action and bottom metal into a Remington 700 full length action (the first rifle is going to be a 30-06 because I already have the finishing reamer).

Can anyone give me a hand hopefully finding a drawing for the receiver or stock inletting shape (that would actually be the best).

Thanks in advance.

Re: Need some help

I'd touch base with some of the bigger shops that have the machines to do it to spec.... Is it a McMillan/Manners/B&C/or H&S prec.? Just see it as one of those things best done by those who do it for a living.... The cost/over your time, hassle, and set-up would probably make it worth while...

Re: Need some help

It's not a Spec anything action at this point, it's still a CAD model on my computer that I'm working on while saving money for the build. I like the idea of talking to the shops that do custom inletting, I'll have to find some and give them a call.

Does anyone have dimensions on it to give me some ideas though?
