Hunting & Fishing never hunted befor

Re: never hunted befor

More info would help as stated above but I will make a few comments that may help.

In some states I believe it is illegal to use .223 round for deer hunting but you would have to look at you local regulations. That is if you are even talking about deer hunting. I know every state that I lived in you can get a regulations manual pretty much anywhere hunting licences are sold.

That being said a .223 round is more than capable of killing a deer but I would suggest somthing larger. If you are talking about shooting somthing larger than deer sized game this round would be insuffecient and likely just wond the animal

As far as hunting goes .223 is probably best for varmint hunting; like coyotes, racoons, bobcat and foxes or animals of that nature.

Welcome to the hide. As a suggestion since you are new (so am I of course) include as much information in your post as possible when you are asking a question that way people can make the best suggestions to help you out. This will also help keep people from completely ingnoring your post. One last thing, you may want to fill out your profile. Once again welcome to the hide

Re: never hunted befor

For small to medium bodied deer, a 223 with a 60gr Nosler Partition bullet will suffice IF you do your part on shot placement within a reasonable range.

Re: never hunted befor

also - learn about location of organs, bones etc. i have seen a few that are great at shooting paper with a center highlighted, but once they saw an animal they were like 'where do i shoot at?'

to hunting, there is more than only pulling a trigger.

Re: never hunted befor

It is helpful to provide as much information as possible and to use proper grammar when you post.

Quick Florida Deer hunting overview:

<ul style="list-style-type: disc">[*]No rimfire calibers[*]Semi-auto mag capacity 5 or less[*]No nonexpanding full metal case (FMJ / military ball) ammo [*]No full auto[*]No suppressors / silencers[*]Shotguns are ok[*]"Year round" feeders are okay on private land as long as they have feed in them the 6 months prior to deer season[/list]

I grew up in North FL. Everyone I knew that hunted deer ran dogs and used a shotgun.
