1. 500 rounds of 69 gr will be good practice for you... a few months work maybe. Then you will need to buy more ammo.
2. An AR is really pushing it at 800 yards, especially if you have a 20" or shorter barrel. 600 yards is a more practical maximum for a 20" barrel. People shooting ARs at 800-1000 are at a disadvantage to other calibers...most try to minimize this by using 24"-26" barrels.
3. You will want a higher BC bullet than 69 gr at 800 yards. realistically, you need cartridges that exceed magazine length: 75gr A-max, 80gr A-Max, 80gr SMK, Berger VLDs, etc. You will be single loading all of these. That's what everyone shooting an AR at 800-1000 yards is doing.</div></div>

OP, I would consider looking at something with a 20" upper in 1/7.7 twist as it will shoot 69-77gr bullets. You may want to go with 1/7 for the 80's and up.
