Im getting a new Savage MKII FV for hunting and long range shooting but im on a budget, and I need a new scope but i don't want to spend over 200 dollars! Some of the thing that im looking for is a mildot reticle, adjustable turrets, and medium power(about 4-16) and descent clarity for a 22 scope, and enough adjustment to get out to about 250 yards or so, so if you all have any suggestions it would be nice!

Re: New 22 scope

Have you checked out Barska?

Hrmm...that's alot of features for $200. The Bushnell E3200 10x40 mildot can be had at just under $200. It's probably the most obvious choice that fits all your constraints. I'm not totally clear what you mean by "adjustable turrets," so I assume either target turrets, resettable turrets, or some kind of zero stop?

Simmons makes the "4-14x44 Aetec" with mildot for under $200. I guess that would be worth looking through, and there's definitely a bunch of Simmons fans out there. Looks cheepo to me though.

SWFA has a sweet 70% off deal ($99.99) on Vortex Crossfires that were delivered with mismatched turrets. Link. They have an illuminated mildot, AO, target turrets. Haven't used a Vortex myself, but people are saying great things. At $100, I'm tempted to find out for myself, even though I prefer plex reticles for rimfires.

If you can go just a little higher in price, you can check out Mueller tactical scopes. If you don't NEED the mildot, the Mueller APV is a great scope for rimfires, and cheap. Weaver V16's are highly regarded over at Rimfire Central. Also, Zeiss has a 4x fixed you can find for $299! Classy!

Re: New 22 scope

I put a Center Point 4-14X40 from Wal Mart on both my MKII & MKIIV. The first one because I already had one, & the 2nd because the first one worked pretty good on my Tikka .223 untill I replaced it with better glass. The Center Points are just under $80.00.

Re: New 22 scope

Go to natchezss.com and look for the Burris Fullfield TAC-30. Natchez part# F04BU200442. Its on sale for $229.00, ust over what your looking for. Its a 30mm tube, should have shitloads of adjustment to get you to 200, B-Plex reticle, Posi lock, and its tacticool green. Its a real nice scope, and would be perfect for what your looking for. Bad part (for magnification whores), its a 3-9x scope, but more than adequate within 200 yards.

Run from Barska, JUNK.

Aetecs are decent, Simmons top line scope, there are TASCOS that are somewhat repeatable, but Burris is USA manufactred, and lifetime warrantied, and are a good scope.

Just my thoughts.

Re: New 22 scope

for the features you want / need for that price, the barska swat series is pretty good for the $ (i have one on a .308, surprisingly clear with no problems) the centerpoint (i have one on a 22 mag) is good also for your needs. plan on replacing the included rings as they are junk on both. bushnell elite is also decent for the $. i have one of each and have had good results. try to stay away from the bsa's as you'll be replacing it in 2-3 years. if your going to be shooting at up to 200 yards or more, plan on getting a tapered base, EGW makes a good one for that rifle for under $50.00.

Re: New 22 scope

For less than $100 a 6-24x42M Tasco, you will need a 20 to 25moa base. These are actually not a bad scope, I was hesitant at first, but after getting one I have no qualms about suggesting one. FWIW, My centerfire rifles have Leupolds.

Re: New 22 scope

I would quit looking at junk brands and go with the Sightron SI 3-9 Mil-dot.

I got mine for $119.00

I run a 150yd ZERO and do mil-holds from 25yds to 225yds.

It works and is not a POS brand.

Re: New 22 scope

Super Sniper, Nikon Buckmasters 4x14 (mil dot), Burris, or Sightron or Millet. I run a Nikon 4x14 on my Mark II with a 20 moa scope base. It's a blast to shoot out to 200 yrads with a 22cal.

Re: New 22 scope

I put a 2.5-10x42 Varmint Tasco on a couple of my rifles. Optics are clear, adjustable target turrets in 1/4" clicks. mil-dot reticle and some pretty solid adjustability.

I've had it to 180y without an issue, I'm going to push it to 400 if it's not too windy next week.

I know it's not a high dollar scope, I got mine from Grafs for about 55 bucks. They make a big brother that's about 70 which is a 6-24x44

Ask Greg L. about his experience with them. I bought one to try on his advice, I now have 3 of them.
