Seems like Forster has made a new cutter for their trimmer. It looks interesting because it has a built in pilot that centers the neck for a perfect cut.
I have used a Gracey trimmer with a Giraud blade, and also a Giraud trimmer at a friends house and both suffer from the same problem. The problem is that other than the body, there is nothing centering the case mouth and the chamfor that the blade puts on the inside of the neck is often uneven from one side to another (half of the case mouth gets more of a chamfor than the other half) Now this only happens with half the cases, not all, but its enough to piss me off.
Now this is not the fault of either of these trimmers, but the case itself, its due to the runout that most cases have.
The reason I like this trimmer head is because the pilot should center the neck so it gets an even cut all the way around. Or at least I hope it will.
It will work with the Forster Original trimmer which is very cheap and I plan on using the power drill adapter to make things a bit faster.
Now I know its not as cool as a Giraud, but I think this should produce cases that have an even chamfor and also more consistent length due to the fact that it doesnt index the case off of the shoulder. This is important to me because most of the brass I trim are neck sized only and not all of them have the same exact base to shoulder measurement.
I also didnt care for the fact that I had to have custom holders made to trim neck sized brass. I dont full length size brass shot through my bolt guns.
Anyway, sorry for the long post, I just figured this would help some others that think like me.
