After putting a couple hundred rounds through my Tikka 300wsm this summer I’ve been really impressed with it’s performance and ease of shooting even in a lightweight rig. Im planning on starting a target rifle build in 300wsm this spring hopefully. I was thinking of doing it on a medium action (lone peak probably) and a manners with a 22”-24” heavy Palma that I can play around with in some PRS and NRL for fun.
What results are any of you getting with a similar setup running heavies in the 200+ range in medium action?

I haven't seen anyone run a 300 wsm in any PRS matches. I've seen them in F Class and some benchrest however. Seems like a fun project.
Yeah I have a 6 dasher and creed I’ve been running the last couple years in PRS and I really like my creed a lot but I shoot because it’s what I love doing and I just don’t care for the 20+ LB gamer guns anymore. It’s going to be 15 ish pound general purpose rifle to have fun with.

20" 300wsm with xm+ action. 2853 avg with 68.8gr of RL26 and 205 EOLs. ADG brass and 215m. TBAC Ultra 7 can. One of my favorite rifles as of late.

Next one I'll do will be a 22" with ultra 5 instead.
Is the RL26 what I’ve heard people can get better speed over the 4350 in the wsm? I mostly just shoot my 6 creed now and I’m stocked up on 4350 so that’s really why I ended up going 300wsm over 7PRC this year on a new rifle. My buddy went with a 7prc and I’ve shot both a good bit and I don’t regret the choice for a second.

How's it feed?

I've heard the 300wsm is one of thee most difficult cartridges to get to feed well in repeaters, which is a huge bummer cuz I REALLY like the cartridge.

Have 2, both set up as 10# hunters. 24” & 20”, the 20” is new, still playing with that one. Zermatt origin SA and a tikka with LA bolt stop, long throated for heavies. 24” shoots 200 eldx at 2854 with RL26. Also have 165 gamechanger’s going 3170 with RL23. They both feed great.

With the long throating do you find load data to be a little off with the extra case room seating bullets forward more?
Asking as I have the same setup in a 7wsm and factory data doesn't seem to be as close as I'd expect for it. Running 180eldm's at 3.16coal seems to give me almost 2 grains more case capacity than the manuals indicate it should have.

I just started shooting it. Maybe 30 rounds in. To be honest, I haven't followed factory load data in years. I had so much data on the 24” SA i just backed off a couple grains and started there. I was somewhere in the low 70 grains when it hit pressure, about 2775ish, but its a 20”. I’m not going to get too serious about load development until that barrel has more rounds through it. My original goal was to have a shorter, handier rifle without hamstringing it too much in performance with the 200 grain bullets.
