I’ve used the Impact Data Books Modular Data Books (the big one on the left) forever for precision rifle stuff and they work really well but I’m always looking for a better mousetrap. A while back I switched to charting my data in a #writeintherain model #973T spiral notebook and started using a green plastic “Sniper Template” to make notes on shots. This was way lighter, more versatile, convenient, and unlike the Modular Data book it fits in a cargo pocket. The sniper template allows me to draw any target and take notes as needed. I can also take notes on the notepad during classes or operationally. The problem I had was holding the pen and everything together. I just found Tactical Notebook Covers and it was a perfect match for my notebook. They are made well, have pen slots and a zipper pouch on the outside for pens and small tools, slots on the inside and they are lined with Velcro. They also feature a band on the outside with a rubberized lining under which you can slip a phone/wind meter or paper. Truly a perfect set up for long range stuff or anything else requiring a pocket sized desk/notebook.
