This is a question I’ve been asking all my life, which started out with my inability to resolve the stated laws of our land in the Bill of Rights with the conduct and existence of agencies and infringements that are expressly-forbidden in the Constitution. Short story: The same people that started the ATF finance the key members of Congress, and have done so for over 100 years.
Long Story:
When Congress passed Prohibition in 1919, they handed over the 5th-largest, multi-billion dollar industry to layers of organized crime overnight (not adjusted for inflation: Even back in 1910, the Federal government skimmed more than $200 million per year off of alcohol sales, while each State had their own taxes and excises. The taxes on alcohol alone reached well over a billion annually). Once the entire revenue of that industry was handed over to the gangs, the crime families were getting buried in cash-flow that created problems of deposits and money-laundering for their rackets.
History of Organized Crime in the US
The relevant layers of organized crime date back to the early 1800s, initially formed by well-to-do young men from wealthy parents in New York, who formed volunteer fire departments as clubs.
With the Irish potato famines, waves of Irish immigrants flowed into New York, Boston, and the Eastern Seaboard and were treated like garbage, not welcome due to their Catholic heritage among American colonial descendants, many of whom came from Puritans, Quakers, and Protestant stock looking to get away from the heavy tyrannical Church-state of Europe (which included both the Roman Church and Church of England). This is why the Founders emphasized no declaration of an official religion over the US because of what they and their ancestors experienced under European totalitarianism.
So the WASP firefighter gangs of the early 1800s saw themselves as protectionists of their cities and fought with the Irish regularly. The Irish promptly formed their own “volunteer fire departments” as well, while insurance companies paid bonuses to whichever department arrived on-scene first. These gangs would have roving scouts ready to “be first” on scene, and some like the
Plug Uglies had their own special hats with hydrant plugs inside to cap off the water until the rest of their gang arrived. This would lead to fist-fights between gangs/fire departments as the apartments or homes burned and whoever’s gang could get more numbers to the fire, they would then go loot the washed-out residence of its valuables, stuffing them in their boots like pirates.
The booty was then taken to Grand Station and sold, and the proceeds used to purchase a pig and a keg to fuel the post-op party back at the station. Such was the life of NYC volunteer fire departments. These gangs also acted as electioneers for politicians, and were given wide berth by the Mayor and Police chief because they always helped the party bosses with ensuring people voted for the clans, and helped with vote-rigging, ballot-stuffing, and vote-counting. The Irish drew quickly to the Democrat Party and took over Tammany Hall under Boss Tweed in the late 1800s, with Tweed eventually being arrested and sentenced to prison for massive corruption, fraud, and embezzlement schemes with kick-backs for rigged contractors using public funds.
From these Volunteer Fire Depts emerged the gang framework of the late 1800s during Reconstruction:
These gangs continued to be the muscle for electoral feuds between competing politicians and parties, and were on the pay-out and collection racket for their bosses, while running their own brothels, rackets, boxing matches, gambling, and contract-killing schemes. When Congress relaxed US immigration laws and allowed Europe to purge their prisons and poverty class into the US with the
Immigration Act of 1903, waves of more criminals flowed into New York, Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, and other Eastern Cities. The entrenched WASPs and Irish gangs didn’t like the new threats of Italians, Sicilians, Russian Jews, Pollocks, Greeks, and Gypsies, so they passed the
Sullivan Act of 1911 to ban the possession of revolvers, pistols, stilettos, and blackjacks from the new immigrants, and issued out permits to their racket enforcers.
This was one of the key moments in US anti-constitutional firearms infringements directly violating the Bill of Rights, but these uneducated masses didn’t know the Constitution from a footstool as English wasn’t their first language, plus they were illiterate dirt-poor peasants used to being shoved around by tyrants. The new immigrant communities soon began to expand and form their own rackets based on organized crime with the Mafia, which dated back centuries in Sicily and Italy.
When Congress passed Prohibition, these layers of criminal enterprises were the only ones with the infrastructure to handle the continued importation, storage, distribution, and sales of alcohol. They went from working for their city bosses, to paying them to do their bidding almost overnight. When your envelope has more cash stuffed in it than the boss will ever see that year, the boss becomes your
pupazzo, your stooge. Like the cartels say, Do you want la pluma o la plata? Any politicians or police chiefs who weren’t willing to take payouts were replaced.
What happened was a flip of leadership from legacy corrupt street bosses like Tweed working for/with Mayors and Police Chiefs, to the Mayors and Police Chiefs working for their former associates, with a new wave of rackets who just moved into their territory. The chaos of it all enticed young up-and-comers to murder, run extortion rackets, pimp out women, and rise in prominence for financial and material gain in the ripe US. Those included guys like Al Capone, Bugsy Siegel, and Meyer Lansky.
From 1920-1933, these various criminal enterprises had a continual avalanche of cash dumped on them that almost crushed them administratively. Meyer Lansky (Russian Jew mobster) was one of the key architects of the money-laundering scheme they had to resort to, which included investing in every cash business they could, and sending cash overseas with bagmen to Switzerland where the banking laws were pretty much no questions asked. Mafia hitmen were also bagmen who would murder a target, hop on one of the large passenger ships of that era and take some bags of cash to Europe while also evading the heat, then return once things had cooled down, often with news or gifts from associates in the Old World.
Due to the demand created by legal scarcity, alcohol sales increased dramatically from 1921-1929 and the model of mob bosses buying-off city and State leadership spread across the US like a rapidly-metastasizing cancerous scorn, until almost every major city was run by organized crime in negotiated territories for the various families.
To give an example of how much revenue we’re talking about in a city, Al Capone was grossing $60 million/year in the early 1920s as one of the representatives for the Syndicate out of New York, building his own regional empire. By the end of the 1920s, he was grossing $80 million a year. His bribe payments were $30 million a year to politicians, police chiefs, judges, Senators, commissioners, and other people in official positions of government “elected” by the same Mafia electioneering rackets.
* The template for election into public office changed from corrupt smoke-filled rooms with electioneering and bribery/kickback schemes of the late 1800s, to showing loyalty to the local Mafia boss.
This is critical to understanding US electoral and partisan politics from then-forward.
The Mob had propped-up their Presidential candidate FDR in 1932 after the more Wall Street-oriented players like
Papa Joe Kennedy secured long-term importation contracts with foreign alcohol distillers/exporters at Prohibition-era low-ball pricing in one of the biggest forms of insider-trading in history. Then a campaign to lift Prohibition was launched because the people realized that their State and local governments had been corrupted, along with the police, fomenting a sort of brewing backlash. During Prohibition, the Bureau of Investigation had been handed over to a young semi-closeted homosexual named J. Edgar Hoover, who expanded its scope and unconstitutional powers to include arrest and carrying weapons, relabeled the "Division of Investigation" under the DOJ. He appointed his life-long homosexual partner, Clyde Tolson, as the Assistant Director, and was already compromised by the Mafia and Meyer Lansky, who had photographs of him and Tolson engaged sodomy.

The Mafia used this as blackmail against Hoover to keep him and his G-Men clear of the Syndicate’s operations, and seeded the Bureau full of Mafia-loyalists from the top-down, forming the SACs and ASACs along the format of Mafia cells led by trusted "made-men”. The existence of a secret police with surveillance and arrest powers acting on-behalf of the Mafia would play an important role in compromising, extorting, and blackmailing prominent people in the US and abroad. The Soviets learned of this compromise through their extensive networks and used it to their advantage when countering the Bureau’s infantile counterintelligence attempts at catching assets in the US (ex: Valerie Jarrett’s father who fled to Iran upon being tipped-off within, or Leo Szilard who started Council For A Livable World after transferring nuke secrets for the better part of 2 decades, and many others. As an aside, Council for a Livable World helped get Joe Biden and Barrack Obama elected into the Senate and White House, along with 420 other Democrat politicians, each of which is particularly anti-2A for some reason).
True origins of the NFA you have never heard
Once Prohibition ended under FDR in 1933, it was almost at the height of the Great Depression. The Alcohol Tax Unit went from Prohibition enforcement to tax collection for the Federal Government and served as a jobs program for Mafia loyalists. Due to the poor economic circumstances in 1933, small groups of Midwest local bank robbers began hitting small towns and cities on the edge of the vast expanse of roads in the dustbowl, driving the new V8-powered automobiles. These people had no connections with the established Mafia families, and were a hindrance to them because they interfered with the US banking system. A jail escapee grabbed a bunch of police weapons on his way out, including the superbly-machined early 1921 Model Thompson SMGs, shotguns, 1911s, and revolvers in the armory. He began using these in bank heists with his partners in crime, but he did something different that really ticked-off the Mafia and the banking sector: he would burn mortgage records on his way out the door.
A serious manhunt began for him, soon with J. Edgar Hoover’s direct and personal involvement. This particular criminal made a mockery of Hoover and his G-Men, eluding them as if it was a cat-and-mouse game to him. His name and face became famous across the US and Europe, which really incensed pretty-boy Hoover, with his coordinated spiffy suits he and his partner wore. Hoover, stark-raving mad, got a hold of the US Attorney General, Homer Stille Cummings, and filled his head with a crock of retardation that would make Hank Johnson and Fetterman blush with envy. According to gayman Hoover, there was a 500,000 man-strong army of armed robbers just like this slippery bandit hiding out all over the US, and every one of them was armed with an arsenal consisting of Thompson SMGs, Colt 1911s, sawed-off shotguns, and a few revolvers for good measure.
Emergency Crime hearings requested by the AG
The Attorney General requested an emergency set of hearings with the Ways & Means Committee of the 73rd Congress beginning in May of 1934. Over the 5 days of hearings, they kept listening to stories of this Uber-bandit hitting banks with an arsenal of weapons as just the tip of the iceberg of a criminal underground larger than the combined US Navy and US Army at the time.
You know those hearings as the 1934 National Firearms Act. The bogeyman was none other than John Dillinger, mentioned on pages 42, 48, 49, and 60 of the NFA Hearings minutes. During the NFA Hearings, Colt was brought in to testify about how many Thompson SMGs they had manufactured for Thompson. The Colt rep stated they only made 20,000 and that they still had not sold off the inventory. This fundamentally undermined faggot-boy Hoover and AG Homer Stille Cummings’ emphatic assertions that a vast criminal underworld army of 500,000 men were out there somewhere in America, armed with all these Submachineguns. The last 1921 Thompson wouldn’t be sold until 1937, before the War-era Thompsons were made. In fact, there were only a handful of non-Mafia gangsters in the Midwest robbing banks. They were John Dillinger and crew, Ma Barker’s gang, and Bonnie & Clyde. They were all killed or apprehended within months of the 1934 NFA Hearings.
On July 22, 1934, immediately after the hearings, one of Dillinger’s female associates dimed him out to Hoover's Division of Investigation, and he was gunned-down while in the company of 2 of his ladies after he exited the Biograph Theater in Chicago. These types of small-time wannabe gangsters were a hinderance to the real mob bosses, who were fully-invested in the US financial system by that point. You don’t rake-in billions of dollars for 14 years into your bank accounts, buy real estate, run scores of businesses with payroll, run unions, buy-off politicians, then let some punks come along and rob your banks.
What they did was take the 1911 Sullivan Act, and expand it to the Nation with the 1934 NFA, but included SMGs, sawed-off shotguns, and then some Nazi sympathizer Fudd from Minnesota piped-up and insisted they also include rifles, and increase the barrel length infringement from it’s original 16” proposal, to 18”. His name was Congressman Harold Knutson,
also a fag arrested for sodomy with a Labor Dept employee in Arlington in 1924. He was later found to have been aiding Hitler during the War in the 1940s as well. So a faggot Nazi sympathizer/traitor is the one who added the Short Barrel Rifle infringements to the Mafia’s NFA. See page 13 of the NFA Hearings.
The National Crime Syndicate, as they called themselves, expanded their reach and operations across the US and the world, looking for more business that facilitated money-laundering of their dirty cash. This spawned the first Casino-Resort hotels in Vegas, with the Flamingo construction being overseen by Bugsy Siegel until the bosses back East found out he was embezzling their operation through the contractors, who had already paid their Mafia dues to get the contracts in the first place. All this time, Gay Edgar Hoover asserted dismissively that the Mafia was just a myth.
It wasn’t until a local police officer in Appalachin saw a bunch of luxury vehicles congregating at a prominent residence in the remote countryside in 1957, and started snooping around, which blew-open the fact that the Mafia crime bosses regulated the US cities as part of their coordinated criminal enterprises.
Anyway, you then can go through the Bureau being on its heels over this incident, which they then had to pretend to combat with some token arrests. A young staffer for a Senator went after them really hard, even though his dad was close associates with these kingpins. His name was Robert F. Kennedy from the Irish clan. Papa Joe set up an arrangement with the bosses that if they helped his other son Jack into the White House with vote-rigging in some key States with the union contacts, ballot-stuffing, and the normal Democrat processes pioneered long ago in the 1800s, he would pull young Bobby off their necks and all would be well again.
After JFK was “elected”, he appointed Bobby as AG and went after the Italians and Russian Jew Mobsters with a vengeance, opposite of what Papa Joe had promised. Was it a power-play from the Kennedy clan or the boys no longer on daddy’s leash? Who’s to say? Either way, President Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and Bobby Kennedy were all assassinated in the 1960s.
And guess what? Hoover’s FBI was once again front-and-center to inform Congress on one of the main contributing factors to these murders. You see, it wasn’t any type of plot, but simply the acts of lone gunmen with access to mail-ordered/easily-accessible firearms. That’s why Congress (on the payroll of Mafia still) rushed to pass legislation to combat this terrible ill in America with the wonderful 1968 Gun Control Act.
After
decades of embezzlement, extortion, fraud, scams, and tax-evasion by Revenue Bureau agents, it was re-named the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) under the Treasury Department in the Eisenhower Admin days. This is when the The Alcohol Tax Unit was renamed the Alcohol & Tobacco Tax Division (ATTD). When the Gun Control Act was passed by Congress, the ATTD was re-named.......drum roll......the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Division of the IRS. In 1970, Congress added the Explosives Control Act. Now you know the brief history of the BATFE. It was later handed over to the DOJ as they have an extensive history of internal criminal misconduct perpetrated at their own employees, one of the worst records in Federal EEO and whistleblower cases that always result in retribution against the plaintiffs, exactly as you would expect from any Mafia outfit.
